Random people in my house

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:20 pm

Couldnt find anything about this in the search so here goes. I made a hunters lodge in the area near hert's house, ingame cords for the lodge are -33 -66. The problem is that at night Hert goes to sleep there and in the mornings there are usually some very seemingly random people in the house. I have an actor in the house with some very basic sleep, cooking and eating packages going.

I have no idea whats up, any idea how to fix it?

did you duplicate halfmoon mill as a base to start your interior? some properties may have carried over

check to see if your interior cell is labeled with halfmoonmilllocation, or something of that sort.

Hert and Hern are "allowed" to travel anywhere that is labeled halfmoonlocation

Couldnt find the labeling option where is that? I tried to set myself as the owner for now and deselect the area as a public space, but Hert still comes and now she tries to get me to leave

Edit: Ah, no, i duplicated the aaamarkers one, deleted everything in it and started building, the editorID which maybe is what you meant by label is "FalkreathCabin"

sorry i should have been more specific. i meant when you look at your cell's edit window, there should be a dropdown menu for location. make sure it isnt set to a location that Hert is allowed to travel to (i think she has a pretty wide range in her ai packages). the easiest way to do this is to create your own location and assign it to your cell

This may, or may not, apply.

Did you edit any of the default AI packages? This could cause some NPCs to randomly show up inside your newly created interior cell.

An example would be to edit the DefaultSleep22x7 package that points to a specific reference in your interior cell (such as a bed or bedroll).

This is a no-no, because any NPC who shares the DefaultSleep22x7 package will come over your place to stay the night.

This is a common mistake that new modders make with the CS / CK when messing with AI packages... something that I learned the hard way myself about 6 years ago with Oblivion. If this doesn't apply, then please disregard.

as i assume from you writing it was a hunters lodge, the whole place is in an exterior, right? if so, i'm pretty sure you just didn't adapt the cell's navmesh, so your random npc's simply aren't aware of your hut's presence before they bump right into it (or happen to hit the door hole, if they're lucky ;-)

This was it :) Thanks a lot! And thank you to the rest of you aswell, don't ever be afraid to just brainstorm and suggest things, the stuff you say may benefit someone else down the line.

About the location and setting one, how do i create my own location and whats the benefit to setting it? I tried to use the exteriorcell that i edited, used to be a wilderness cell, but i named it FalkreathCabin now, it wasnt in the list tho.
