Trying to join my friend's session. He has it set to "My rank or higher" and its saying my rank is too high for that server. anyone else having this problem?

It's official. SD doesn't want us to play with friends.

The highest ranked person in your group will have to be the one people join, and everyone else can set it to my rank or higher.
Of course, then you will be outmatched ability wise but oh well.

Eventually people might want to keep some of the extra character slots at various ranks.

Brink's online gameplay is good, but the setup is disastrously bad so far.

Meh I think people are too used to the lobby system, so what if you need to jump through a couple of hoops to get playin with your buds, at least you're able to play with them. Yes they should of added the lobby system, they didn't, life's tough sometimes

its not just jumping thru hoops and why in the blue hell would i pay to jump through hoops..i get your positive attitude and i commend it but no one plays a FPS multiplayer to jump thru any hoops 60 bucks should be hoop free..if they didnt want a lobby system then they should have just made it full time Multiplayer no "Matches" kinda like a MMO they could have set it up like Borderlands i would have been ok with that 2 rooms one security one resistance then when the game begins it just becomes open combat...i would be ok with it if they took away xbox live parties when you play cause it seems people are just not speaking in game period..i have been playing since midnight eastern time and i have yet to hear one person other than AI even speak..it is a hugely team based game yet everyone is playin like its free for all..but im sure its because people party up with one or 2 other people and dont even worry about the other 3 to 5 other people on the team..at anyrate they really really need to patch in a lobby system and or remove xbox live parties otherwise this game is nothing more than a sinking ship.

who ever is running the game needs to open up there console ( alt + ctrl + ~ ) then type si_maxrank 4
you should be able to join after he does that

My friend and I are able to play together even though I was 1 rank higher. (he was still playing when I got off so I say was)

Ive had the same problem. My friend said he changed his setting to "my rank or higher" and im still blocked out. I made a new character to play with him but then that one got too high also and im not able to play with my bud right now :/

I'll admit it. I lol'd. And then cried. And then slept.

Its simple to play with people or freinds of a lower level just by changeing the setting when joining or createing a match by setting the rank setting from same rank to same Rank and higher this automaticly lets you play with people of the same rank higher and lower trust me ino i was playing with my cousin whos lvl 4 and i was lvl 9 we changed the settings that way and we were able to play plus its pretty obvious sinse people of lower lvls can play with higher lvls by changeing the settings it just confuses people of higher lvls that they cant play with people of lower levels then them when they really can O:

I had this problem last night, and it svcks that my friends couldn't join me because I'm the one with the epic internet. When ever they host its always full of lag.

Church to that! I too have epic fiber internet and my friends usually request that I host but now since I've had the game longer than them, I'm the one who has to join them. Either that or they need to hurry the heck up and pass me up in level. It's official, I'll simply sit in the back of the map until they pass me up. :brokencomputer:

The higher level person should find the match. Then the lower level person can join.

Lvls are not ranks. Every 5 levels you got up 1 rank. So you start at rank 1 for lvl 1,2,3,4 then rank 2 for lvl 5,6,7,8,9 then rank 3 for lvl 10,11.. so on and so forth (Guessing it continues in this fashion, my highest character is like lvl 13). The problem is the seperate ranks not being able to play with eachother. Since you were lvl9 and your cousin lvl4 you were ranks 1 and 2 so you being able to play together and me and my buddy not being able to play together when both pairs had the setting on "my rank and higher" means something isnt working correctly..

It's really not a big deal....eveybody will be level 20 by tonight anyways...

I can only speak for the PC version but who ever sets up the server or starts the game, they have to change the settings to so that any rank can join. I like all these little things they help out but i guess its too confusing for some. No hoops to jump over, just read a bit before randomly clicking things.

Alternatively you could go to Freeplay and change the Match Settings to Old-Skool which disables in-game Ranks.

I've had this same problem. Im a rank 3 and my friend is a rank two and we both have my or higher, but it wont let us join. If I restart on lvl 1 and hes already rank two, I'll just get owned. This game could really be great but they are fuxoring up on the basics, COMON GUYS!!! ID, Bethesda, SD, you guys are better than this and should know better. Shoulda used that week it got pushed up to play-test the hell outta this game, dont figure these kinda BIG holes in polish would have gone unnoticed. Devs are getting too worried about the $$$ and not enough about the players. I don't know how it could have been considered a favor to us gamers to move up the release when the damn thing is half broken.

Okay, I'm sorry for the filth contained above. I found that the higher ranked person must start the campaign matches, but you can still play together. Game is great, lag is annoying but you can work around it now. I'm totally addicted because I usually get owned in COD type games because I dont play then 24/7 like the tweens and teens that are the majority of players who don't have to worry about jobs or anything and can play till the mountain due oozes from their pores and they have bed sores on their rear ends. LOL! anyway, Love the game, just more of my friends would get their copy and start playing with me.

I personally think its all fine.... but of course I am a PC Gamer... so I don't know about the rest of you. :goodjob:
