Rant: Performance tweaking *sigh*

Ppl have posted FNV on youtube. Sometimes the sigth is breathtaking. Ligths glowing, everything has a certain sheen, almost like an animated movie.
Then I look at my game. Bland, little cartoony. Playing smooth, some odd sound hickup every now and then. :meh:
Ok off I go looking for tweak advice. For the sound-bug I was adviced turning of ffdshow (never heard off but there it was on my comp). Read jasper1979 second comment here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1236993-audio-failure/

Ok for the visual I located a program named New Vegas Configurater, helped me understand how tweaking worked. So I start it up, makes some choises and... sooooo beatyfull! :ooo:

Start playing an pretty soon learn what "stutter" means. Dang. More tweking. Loosing sound, more tweaking etc. :brokencomputer:

And of story: after having learnt how FNW SHOULD look like, I am now back with my bland but smooth game minus the sound-trouble.

I think I need a hug.... :(

My poor ol' laptop is too weak for any that tweaking. Running NV on medium graphs, FPS is rarely over 25. I gotta live with the blandity(?).
