Rauls a coward...

So I was going through my playthrough quite the thing, annoying the factions, gambling, and generally having loads of caps when i decided my companion ED-E needed company so I went for Raul, since Boone was pissed off, so me, ED-E and Raul were now adventuring together for a good wee while UNTIL !!!....He decided he didn't want to walk around anymore so he just stood still constantly, if I fast travelled he would come with me but stand where ever he spawned, then I just thought to hell with getting him to walk so I carried on and began the quest Beyond The Beef
Spoiler
I went to find the investigator and after I took his matchbook and was about to leave the room I was jumped by two White Glove thugs sent by Mortimer
ED-E was helpless since he can't melee but Raul after the fight was no where to be seen so I looked around for him and there he was, cowering in the corner of the hotel suite.
After this show of weakness I decided to leave him in the Lucky 38, walked right up to the door and said "Wait for me at the Lucky38" or whatever the line is.
Assuming that I was right outside the door he would just walk in or stand there like hes done before I left for Boomer land only to see a bombardment of shells being fired into the homes, does anyone else beside the PC and companions actually go there during gmeplay ? So naturally I wanted to see what it hit, then it came up your companion has died but there was no Raul where the Boomers hit

......If anyone made sense of my story can you please explain what happened to poor Raul ?

Let me guess. You have 1-2 Charisma, right?

What system are you playing on?

On PS3 I recruited Raul a while back on my main character, because I thought I could get that goofy outfit he gets when you finish his quest. After I completed the quest and found out I don't get the outfit, I told him it was time to go separate ways, and for numerous days in game, he just stood outside the hotel at Novac. I got fed up with him just standing there, so I decided to punish him. Every time I returned to Novac and caught sight of him I would shoot him with the AMR, and send him flying. He finally disappeared back to Black Mountain. Serves him right. I had enough of that border jumping, ghoul who does nothing but stand around, and whine about the 'good ol days' when he was a gun slinger.

Charisma also affects whether or not they'll run away in combat.
I had 1 CHA when I first recruited Veronica, and she ran away to hide if anything bigger than a molerat came at her.

XBox is the glitchiest of the three. Yours sounds glitchy as balls.

I wouldn't say its super glitchy or that in my5 or 6 playthroughs now i've never incountered glitchs like this, it kept crashing my game every 3 or so doors I went through after Raul became a [censored] :brokencomputer:
Only real glitch i've found on xbox is aniamls spawning in walls and the ground, not exactly a major problem

Starting again now anyway gonna be a smooth talking cowboy who only uses pistols :)

While CHA does affect companions, from the description it does sound like Raul's just glitching out for some reason. Almost like he's being affected by the "disappearing companion" glitch (hence he's still technically following you/gets killed even when fired etc) yet is still visible to you - just unresponsive.
