Reaching the Boomers/Nellis

Anyone else just down some atomic cocktail and take a med-X and run for it along the cliff edge?

I've never done it the way it was suggested.

I've also never returned to the guy to get my caps back after taking the bet.

I always take the bet then kill him, it's an easy 700 caps.

I just shot the guy (you ain't having NONE of my caps) and hugged the edge of the cliff face on the left hand side, the artillery didn't even come close to me.

On this one, I watched a video that a very helpful soul had put up on YouTube on how to get past the artillery. The trip was LOUD...it was exciting and I made it. I never would have figured it out...saw myself blown to little bits over and over before I looked at the video. :D

First time I just ran straight into the village, followed the stone wall until I reached the fence and they stopped shooting.

The only thing to ever hit me was the pebble from the annihilated buildings.

The second time I just hugged the cliff and the rockets never came even close to touch me!

If you see a building with a ramp on its ne coner you stand right near that ramp and none of the shells can hit you.

Then wait till just before a shelling round ends and just run to the gate.

I always just run like hell. I usually arrive with multiple crippled limbs.

I just popped a Turbo (2 actually) and made a run for it.

Made 400 caps off that guy at the start...ha, never bet against a winner! :)

I read the notes, then just made a run for it. Made it, luckily, one-legged but still.

I pop into the first demolished house on the left and wait for the shelling to stop. As soon as it stops I haul ass for the fence. Four play-throughs, I've not yet seen a second round of shelling. They don't fire when you're close enough to the fence.

Okay, that's not true. The *first* time I tried going through there I got f'ng pulverized by the second volley. But then never again.

I just took a left and ran along side the cliff the entire way with no med-x or turbo or anything of that stuff. Luckely I made it to the fence on the first try. Good thing they don't have snipers.

The cliffside strategy never worked for me. Instead, I ran to a house that had one small wall standing and hugged it for dear life until the artillery shelling temporarily stopped. I then quickly ran to the next house across the street, hugged my precious wall, and made it to the fence. I don't think this method allows your companions to survive so it's best to leave them behind for future fast travel.

Railway have been the simplest way to get there. Sure you need to use a few hydra (Med-X don't nothing first time I tried), but all you have to do is just run.
