Ready to throw this game in the trash

I've absolutely had it with this game and Steam. I recently restarted from the beginning of the game and find myself crashing every time I go to leave Whiterun for the first dragon fight. Happens no matter what I do.

I went and reinstalled the game according to Steam. Not only does it not acknowledge my game anymore, it says my code is no good, already registered. I can still play it but it's not registered under my games.

So now I have an unregistered game even though i have my code, and even if it did I cannot play the game because it keeps crashing. At this point I don't even know what version I'm at anymore. I was at 1.4 before I reinstalled, again, via Steam.

With Oblivion I could uninstall, delete all the folders and go into regedit and remove the entries (I have well over 25 years as a software engineer, I know what I'm doing so I don't want any flames about that, thanks). With this abomination I cannot do that. What would I do? Go plop down another $60 bucks for a game I already have?

This inhales with great velocity. I am > < (this) far from uninstalling the game and never ever playing it again.

If anyone has any suggestions (flames are not welcome, thanks) I'd be grateful because I really do like the game but the Steam component is completely unacceptable.

OP, you need to contact Steam in order to resolve this issue.

For the rest, Steam is to be discussed in this thread
