Realistic Leading.

So I just finished all the Thieves Guild, and I was thinking that if Bethesda made so that once you become leader of a guild you can give the people in the guild a mission or job to do like

Collage of Winterhold

*Make someone go check out a dungeon that has been radating magica.
*Make someone go to the Midden to see what the Augur advises on something.
*Make someone get a powerful mage out of prison and recruit them into the Collage.
*Make someone go get a powerful staff( Like made Savos you.)
*Make someone go get some spell tomes to teach new recruits spells.

Companions
*Make someone go clear out a Silver Hand hideout
*Make someone go recruit a powerful warrior in a radiant town
*Make someone clear out a cave to prove their worth.
*Make someone get a radiant sword (meaning it can be glass or ebony )
*Make someone teach new recruits a shield move

Thieves Guild
*Make someone go steal something from a Jarl of any town
*Make someone go do a special job (Like delvin made you do with Solititude Whiterun Markarth and Windhelm)
*Make someone recruit a thieve from a raidiant town
*Make someone teach a group or recruits a pickpocket techneque (dont know how to spell it)

Dark Brother Hood
*Make someone assaiantate someone (a nonnamed person) from another guild like the Collage , Thieves Guild , and Companion.
*Recruit someone like Astrid did to you and make them kill someone with a contract on them
*Assanate a Steward or Housecarl ( Then have the game replace them so if your on the main quest line or something you can still go on)

The possibilitys are endless.

That could be interesting. But I would be happy with some content that didn't simply END with no mention of your previous accomplishments, upon completion. That goes for every guild/ quest line that I have completed so far.

I think it's strange how the factions you lead always seem to be ran by a second in command, while the leader sits on his ass trying to look important.

Yeah, it's like while you're just a lowly initiate, there's so much work to be done, but then once you get to the top, everything is fine. All the jobs dry up and you can't send you new underlings out on ridiculous, life-threatening quests, or make them jump through hoops like your superiors did to you. Of course, then you'd have to pay them....

Still, it would be cool if you had more options for the faction radiant quests once you become leader.
For instance, the Companions' quests where you have to kill random creature in random place. Once you're Harbinger, you could either undertake the quest yourself and get the full bounty, or send one of the other members to do it for you, but you then have to pay them part of the bounty.

The ending of the guild where quite disappointing IMO (Skyrim is my first TES). All guild ends with "congratulations, you saved our guild from a threat! In return, we would like to give you the title as master of our guild, even though you're a rookie and most of us has been here for several years. And also, the self announced second in command will do the real leading while you just chill".

being able to actually lead the guild would be nice

There is an issue in that if you sent people off to do stuff, the devs probably think there's no point as the player simply tells an NPC to do something then that NPC comes back and says they did it - which doesn't make for exciting gameplay. But it could function almost like a vendor - you order NPCs to get you specific items, have a waiting time before you get them and have to reward them a set amount. This could give you access to specific rare or unique items for cash.

I know this idea isn't a popular one as a lot of people like being boss of everything and it will thus stay that way, but I'd much prefer it if you could only be boss of one guild and get very substantial benefits related to the relevant skills. So you have to choose which one best fits your character, but you can do the quests for all of them, just not lead all of them. You may as well be high king of Skyrim in this game - you've technically got more power than anyone else in the province. Except nobody notices and you can't wield any of it.

I mean, as well as being thane of every hold, you can be running crime in Skyrim through a reinvigorated thieves guild, be boss of a set of very powerful mages, boss of a group of warriors and running a depleted but still functioning set of assassins - yet you're still grinding your way through dungeons solo or with a follower in tow and being harassed by bandits who in theory you could get annihilated by a small army. Such is the way of computer games.

I agree, the player should have a limited amount of power...

I like your idea Merv. Interesting. So if you became the *boss* of the the Thieves Guild you could make a initiate get a rare item from a house. Then they would come back with the item or not. Then you could either take it or let them keep it. I like it. If only it would happen.
