Realistically, how long until this game is playable?

It's obvious that an enormous amount of people are being affected by the NPC framerate drop bug. It basically makes the game unplayable.

So my question is, how long until we see a patch for this? A few days? A week? A month? Longer? I've never bought a Bethesda/Obsidian game at launch so I'm not familiar with how quickly they fix their games.

It took quite a LONG time to fix Neverwinter Nights 2 (another Obsidian game) problems!
I hope they fix it quick.
