A really annoying glitch (Mages' Guild spoilers)

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:24 am

So I'm really cross and fed up now and wishing I had a PC. A few months ago, I started the Mages' Guild quest line, and when I got to Good Intentions, I was supposed to follow Ancano, and he just didn't move. The only way to trigger interaction with the Psijic Monk in the Arch Mage's Quarters was to go through the locked door that Ancano was standing next to. I don't have the key, nor a PC to unlock it. I went on here a few months back and asked for help. Someone suggested I go straight to the Augur of Dunlain in the Midden. I went in, crossed the icy bridge and according to the official game guide he's supposed to start talking when you reach the icy bridge. No voice. So today I spent the whole day sitting in front of my Xbox getting my Restoration up to 90 for the Ritual Quest. Then I went to Colette. No option to trigger the quest. I checked the guide, and I just wanted to flip the table over when I saw that I have to have met the Augur first. So now I get down on my knees and say please help.

Poked around for a while and I can find people mentioning that bug but no fixes to it for console players, which is both curious and silly. I'll keep looking, I know what a nuisance that sorta thing can be. Not really a GOOD solution but whenever I have trouble with companions and stuff not pathing or moving properly, I use Unrelenting Force and it works sometimes. ._.;

Also, I have the strategy guide, too, and while it says the Master magic level quests are offered at 90, they're really offered at 100. Go figure.

Not the first time I've done a Ritual Quest. Both only activated at 100. Checked at 90, but nothing happened.

And what if you get a follower, equip him with a lockpick, and force him through that locked door? Not sure whether that'll work 'though. And Unrelenting Force (full shoutt, or he at least needs to fly away) doesn't work either?

I shouted at Ancano so many times I think my character has a sore throat. The locked door says "This locked cannot be picked. It requires a key to be opened." I poked around the Arch Mage's Quarters and Savos Aren, but I couldn't find any key.

There is more than one way to the arch mages quarters, unless they are all locked and require ancano to open. Try going through the arcaneum(sp?)

Going through the other ways show Savos Aren and the Psijic Monk standing around. They don't talk to you.
