I don't think so, when their dead their dead. If you have any saves from before it happened you'll have to go back to those, beyond that I'm not sure

What about your auto saves, those can't be to far back in progress.

Do you only have saves with him dead? Sorry once a quest giver is dead, its dead theres no way on consoles to change that. TES and Fable games are known to have this happen, its intentional as a consequence for killing/randomly killing NPCs

I only realised at a certain point that I had wasnt able to the mission when I tried to go and do it I didnt see the mission failed at the time so I simply progressed with the game, ALOT of the game about 100 extra hours

Don't know a way either, unless you get the glitch like I got. I finished the Companion quest line, am the top dog of them, came back one day to do some training and when I walk in the door, Skjor, who died back when doing the quest after we turned into werewolf, was back alive and walking around.

Ohh no, don't go getting his hopes up. That particular glitch only occurs with Skjor. NO OTHER npc's are going to return from the dead.

Seriously, guy, this is not the right forum for this. It isn't a hardware or a software issue.

Sorry, its just I didn't exactly know where to put it sorry again.

I have cleaned the thread up and moved it to the correct forum.

OP, sorry but it looks as if there is no way back for you, if you don't have or don't want to use a save when you killed him you will have to play through without that quest - maybe get it next time round with a new character.

If you need 1 of the 3 pieces, you can add those by console.

However if you need the quest, I dont think there is anything that can be done. Why would you have killed Silus in the first place? Dawnstar is very peaceful once the nightmares leave except for the whole DB thing later on.

1) http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Pieces_of_the_Past (Use quest commands to control quest state)
2) http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Silus_Vesuius (NPC ID, Not sure if other variables are affected)

There is no way around people that you killed. Just a circumstance of random killings.

you can try this though..
