Really Stupid.

So, I'm the type of person that loves to explore. I also love to Treasure Hunt. Doesn't anyone else feel this is impossible to achieve in Skyrim. I can openly say there are no RARE weapons in Skyrim. For example: I'm going though a Alyeid ruin in Oblivion, I find a super sick glass bow, 30 fire damage, blah blah blah. I would use this bow for the rest of my experience on this player. Or in Morrowind, going though a Dwemer ruin, and I find Daedric. I remember I would freak out. This doesn't happen in Skyrim and it disappoints me. I think this is because everything you find in skyrim, YOU CAN MAKE SOMETHING BETTER. Smithing should not have been a skill, it really takes away the whole glory at a high level. Like if I stumble upon a new cave, what's the point of me going in their max level and wearing daedric. There's really not. Can anyone agree?

I feel the same way... Smithing/Atronach Forge and Enchanting kinda killed off dungeon exploring for me... They should have either made enchanted items very rare, or made Soul Gems very rare...

I agree about Morrowind. But not about Oblivion. Virtually all loot was in leveled lists in Oblivion. Morrowind-style hand-placed loot was extremely rare in Oblivion.

In this area I prefer Skyrim to Oblivion. And I prefer Morrowind over both Skyrim and Oblivion.

I guess I can somewhat agree. Oblivion had much greater loot though than Skyrim. I always used cools sword I got from dungeons . I really looked forward to raiding dungeons in Oblivion...and Morrowind for that matter. Skyrim... not so much. I just hope they put some more unique/rare items in Skyrim's DLC. LIKE RINGS! :o?

I'm glad Smithing is in the game. Personally for me, dungeon crawling isn't about loot, although it's nice. I'd rather have a crafting system that allows me to actually craft my own gear. I still feel like there's some good gear to find in dungeons. It could definitely be better, for sure, that I agree with, but not at the expense of Smithing.

I don't agree with this. There are many special loot items that are scattered around the world of Skyrim, just like they were with Morrowind. The only downer about them is, if you plan on making your build one that utilizes Smithing and Enchantment, the special loot is not always that great (unless you take it and enhance it). My first build was a Smithing fighter and he could create or augment weapons and armor better than anything I could find in the game. Now I'm using a pure mage so weapons and armor are essentially irrelevant. But, my next build will avoid Smithing so that I can once again experience the joys of the days of Morrowind where stumbling across awesome loot or special items actually feels right.

I guess I can somewhat agree. Oblivion had much greater loot though than Skyrim. I always used cools sword I got from dungeons . I'm pretty sure your issue may be the use of Smithing in this situation (possibly in conjunction with Enchanting). Because Oblivion lacked Smithing, finding special loot was the only way to get the best armor/weaponry... so it's not that Oblvion was "better", it's that there was no provision to "do it yourself".

Yeah i loved how in morrowind there was really only like 2 full sets of daedric in the entire game. I also liked how from level one you could get sweet items if you knew they were there. Like you can get a full set of glass armor and a glass halberd from that sixth house base by ald ruhn at level one (technically, even though you would have to fight insane sixth house and daedra to get it).

Though oblivion svcked ass at all for any items. There was literally no better items then iron that would be lying around in the game world. The leveled items would only show up on dudes and in stuff, never on the ground or in weapon racks. I like how in skyrim you can find an iron sword in a weapon rack on one score, and then the next time you're there its a fire enchanted steel sword or something, that NEVER happened in oblivion.

I think smithing and enchanting are fine, I do like making my own stuff unique stuff. But, it shouldn't be nearly as effective as it can be, and loot items in hard dungeons should be worth finding and using at all levels.

Honestly, I love exploring and looting in Skyrim. I've found some great stuff. Found a lot of trash, too, but that's the way it is when a game has so many items in it (instead of doing the usual thing and having most details in dungeons and buildings just be static art, and enemies dropping 0-2 items)

disclaimer: my first character did Smithing but not Enchanting. This meant that I couldn't make "the best gear". Because I couldn't make enchanted gear worth a damn. But even on my current character (who does have both Smithing and Enchanting.... Smithing only because most armor mod makers are sticking their armor into the crafting menus :ermm: ), I still love exploring and looting.

Or make ebony ingots so rare that you could only build 1 set of daedric and 1-2 daedric weapons. Or..... make the ebony ingots extremely expensive (400 coins an ingot is a joke) like 10k an ingot. An armor set so powerful shouldn't be made by such cheap "ingredients."
