Is it really too much to ask for?

I just wanted to appologize for a previous post I had made, I was irritated, angry, frustrated, and had experienced one to many bugs. I'm sorry for saying angry words, but I feel that I was well justified for them.

There are a lot of people who will say "oh, whine whine, here's a violin" or whatnot, and fine, so be it. Label me as a whiner or what have you, but is it really too much to ask for a game that works? Consistently?

Now, i'm not a game designer, I never will have the knowledge and skill to be able to craft such an amazing thing out of thin air for millions to play. I think I was unfair to say the things I did about obsidian, I haven't played any of their other games so I think it was a bit unfair to judge them solely on this endeavor with NV.

But I don't think it was wrong of me to try to point out some SERIOUS flaws in this game. Someone might say, "quit whining, every game has flaws... grow up". And you know, for any other game, even FO3 included, I woudl have been like, "okay, sure, i'll try to enjoy it".

And normally i'm a very accepting and tolerant person, but is it really too much for me to ask for my quests not to have 5 bugs a peice that can litterally make you not able to complete it? Is it really too much to ask for to be able to reload my lever action weapons and hunting shotgun without having my game freeze, and then have it corrupt my save for freezing during an auto save? Is it really too much to ask to be able to not have to guess if there's an invisible wall or not every time I want to not have to travel 10 minutes extra just to get to a quest point that was 30 feet infront of me? is it really that much to ask?

If it is, I appologize, but I honestly think that i'm justified in being frustrated that I got took for a fool and something that was so hyped up turned out to be like fable II, just a lot of hype.

Now, I could nitpick here about quest endings, story plot, locations and such, but that's subjective. Complaining about fatal and deleterious bugs that force you to start over 3 times is not whining in my opinion. I want to see the silver lining in this, and some people tell me to. But when im experiencing a bug or corrupt save or an NPC falling under the ground or my companion being lost after every fast travel... then I think I have a right to voice my opinion for a game that I purchased.

I don't have a lot of money, I can't go out and buy another game when i'm not satisfied. So when I saw another fallout was comming out, I knew to get that game because anything else, and i'd have to have a little gamble with fate.

I don't have 1k or so to buy a nice custom PC to play this kind of game on, so I settle for console. So I can't have mods that increase much needed energy weapon damage, or repair the almost every broken quest on this game, or fix this or fix that... I don't have a console to bring up or mods to make or download. But I think that even though I'm only on console, I should not have to deal with these game breaking issues.

I really want this game to be game of the year material, it's far from that... it's good, but not great. I enjoy the more weapons, and the more linear quest line, I enjoyed Fo3's more, because it was so much more personalized and emotional, but this one is just fine, and to nitpick here would be subjective again.

I don't think the folks at obsidian are money grubbers or that I should get a refuend or they should get sued or anything... i'm not like that and I personally just don't have that kind of character to be able to wish that upon someone, espeically as the economic situation is at times. I know that many game companies go broke before their first title, and i'm not wishing any ill will towards obsidian, all i'm asking is for future projects to be well developed and tested and tested and tested again to smooth out basic bugs that have absolutely no right of being in game.

I can understand If i was nitpicking about an abandoned building crashing my game, but when i'm talking about something as common as reloading my weapon, one of the better shotguns might I add... I believe that to be a common thing to do, and somethign that hsould have been perfected.

As I said, I don't have money to go get tons of new games, so I try to pick ones I think I'll really cherish, and with Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fo3 I was simply amazed at the care and consumer care that was used for those products. I was so amazed when bethesda was quick to fix things that were game breaking in my experience with them and it was why I love their company so much. I was hesitant when I heard obsidian was taking over control of this project, because Bethesda was working on Elderscrolls V: Alinor.... but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I can't seem to see the silver lining here and i'm desperately trying to.

Again, i'm sorry for saying some harsh things, but understand that when my favorite weapon type, energy weapons, is horribly unbalanced, and on top of that, I have tons and tons of glitches and bugs and game breaking things to deal with along with having to start over 3 times due to corrupted data and crashes... my patience begins to wear thin.

I didn't mean to personally attack anyone at obsidian, I hope your company can redeem itself, and prove to be a reliable devloper, I know that you have the means to do so and the talent as well. I think some bad setbacks have happened, and I hope that eventually most if not all people can be pleased with this product but, understand that I don't have the resources to simply "if you don't like the game, sell it back", I can't easily do that as other people and I feel that I was cheated out of what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience...

again, if it's too much for me to ask for this game to be with less bugs and glitches than its predecessor, then i'm sorry, and I have no right to complain but I feel that I need to address these issues. Most of them are fixable, and I hope they do get fixed, i'd like for NV to be a constant game library addition for me, along side oblivion, which I still play to this day ever since it launched....

Sorry for being rude before, but it's just so hard to see the light when there's so much darkness around....

Sorry for this thread being "another one of those" but i'm tired of just "letting it go" and "dealing with it".

Wait for patches.

People say they wish games wouldn't release until they are finished, just pretend the game hasn't released yet. It's being tested more thoroughly by the millions that bought it than it ever could be by the dozens who tested it in alpha/beta.

Weird, I experience the occasional crashes on the PC, but as far as bugs, I haven't really encountered any. I tend to read the wiki, and they usually give you a warning if something has a chance to bug you out as a warning, which is good. My advice is realize it's just a game and they're meant for fun, so if it's angering you that much, watch some TV and wait for the patches. One positive though, is you know where everything is and what perks work and what skills to pick and where you can find guns and what not if you choose to start over.

Bugs in a Fallout game, NO WAY! Seriously, you don't expect it to not have bugs, right? I have had one bug and thats when the game freezes randomly. It only happens once or twice a day and its not bothersome at all. Auto saves and saving frequently solves this problem 95%.

Nope. Not in the least bit. You see my friend, when you start "yelling" at people in an emotional frenzy, people are going to respond in kind and dismiss you. You could be angrily screaming the cure for cancer amongst all your negative labelling, and people would still write you off as a rude jerkoff who doesn't know what he's talking about because he's too angrily negative to think clearly.

When you speak in a calm, level-headed, rational manner, people will actually listen to what you have to say. The devs already stated in an interview, more or less: "we ignore the people we don't think we'll ever be able to please." However, if you point out all the bugs from the perspective of someone who WANTS to like the game then you may catch the attention of a developer who really wants to put out a top-notch product because that will feed his ego as an awesome developer who deserves everything he is paid, as well as meaning it's another satisfied customer for the company.

Now I realize you could argue that a game shouldn't hit shelves until it's 100% bug free, but that's not realistic because a rabid fan base (and Fallout especially has one) will always demand that the game come out yesterday and if they have to wait any longer you'll break all their hopes and desires so they'll take their money elsewhere. Not to mention you constantly have a publisher breathing down your neck to meet a deadline so they can get some return on their investment. It's reasonable to ask for a game that, for example, you don't have to keep reloading every 5 minutes because it keeps crashing.

In the meantime, though, the best you can do is post the bugs you find here or on the tech support forum or anywhere else a dev might be watching (like this very forum) and wait for a patch. Patience is a sign of maturity.
