Recent craze of negative comments and whining.

So a lot of people are upset with the latest release and a lot are happy, however it seems that because of a few technical faults people are casting aside which is otherwise an amazing title worthy of a new franchise for id. Now I digress, there are thinks I don't like about RAGE, lack of boss battles, and a very underwhelming ending (which I'm assuming will be tied up with a DLC). However, what game doesn't have it's faults? JC comments about PC not being their top platform sending people in fury, yea I can understand that, but look at it from a marketing standpoint. Consoles just naturally sell better, it is what it is. I too feel a bit betrayed by comments of that nature seeing as I've purchased every id title for as long as I can remember, but times change, companies have to make money. Over half of the people that buy RAGE will not finish the game, and that's the same with all games, percentage wise, most people just won't finish it, so seeing as RAGE was the exact same experience at the start when you didn't know anything about the game and carried on through still surprises me.

I've played completely linear games, WAR40k SM, and completely sandboxish games, Fallout, and RAGE struck right in the middle for me, and I loved it. The difference between RAGE and the other 2 still good titles, is I finished it, and started a new game. Completely linear games are boring, and RAGE was not this, after finishing the game I released after browsing through achievements that there was still tons of quests and such that I completely missed and I thought that I went everywhere, and I love that, hence my second game. Had RAGE been a completely sandbox shooter, I would of enjoyed it for the first 10 or so hours and then got bored, games need some sort of direction, and while there are plenty of gamers that die for those types of games, ala oblivion, fallout, upcoming skyrim, direction is still needed nowadays.

Enjoy the game for what it is, a pretty decent story, awesome graphics, great customization, minigames, driving, etc etc. Id tech games have always been more about selling the tech than it has been game storyline, and it's obvious that this time around they worked really hard on it.

TLDR: Stop complaining about a perfectly fine game, if you don't like it, then don't play it, if you do like it, then continue. If you have issues, by all means post them in a constructive way so that they can be further improved upon and offer a better gaming experience in the future.

@zeroskillz

Pardon me but, I'll skip over the first two paragraphs of your post as the "politics of official forums" are old news. White Knights, haters and everyone in between, anyone who's used game forums to share opinions know-well the lay of the land.

Not sure if the moderators will allow this thread to continue because you aren't discussing the game but, I'll reply.

Story - it was unusally weak compared to many other recent popular titles.

Graphics - technical issues aside the graphics good but, not great.

Customization - done like many other current and popular games.

Mini-games - little more than a diversion from lacking content.

Driving component - reasonably well done.

Id tech games... - unrealistic and apologetic. I've played lots of Id games and never had the impression they were peddling tech.

Worked really hard on it... - they very well may have worked very hard on it. They just didn't convince people of it.

There's a difference between complaining and criticism. One wastes our time, the other informs those who created these forums. The line between is difficult to describe.

Rage did well on combat AI and Soundtracks, really, they did those amazingly well, but the rest of the game was severely lacking aside from driving.

I don't see why this thread wouldn't continue, it's general discussion. As well, it's not so much the complaining that bothers me, it's the lack of constructive criticism. The point is people are entitled to their opinions, not everyone is always going to be happy, different strokes for different folks. The thing I don't understand is the comments about lack of content, the game had tons of it, and while it could of been done better in areas, it was great. Again my opinion, you have yours, my point was that people should have more constructive posts to fix these issues in the future, ala DLC's that will guaranteed come.

I just wanted to say that i haven't had a single graphical error, no glitches, no waiting for rendering to happen... i have a 360 copy, and i have found nothing wrong with the GORGEOUS graphics. also: although the ending was quite abrupt and left me with a lot of questions, i found that i enjoyed the overall experience more than that bothered me.... maybe because i wasn't comparing this to "many other recent popular titles". this is not fallout. this is not call of duty. this is not halo, thank god. i think if people have so much of an issue with this game they should go return it and buy something they'll enjoy. someone else will be happy to purchase your preowned copy and enjoy the game at a slightly reduced price.

Tempest feels inclined to express his opinions on RAGE and it's shortcomings every chance he gets-- always without examples and often borderlining on hyperbole.

Everything is subjective, but if RAGE is mediocre looking then every game out there looks sub par. Even the hardest mainstream critics has pretty much all agreed that RAGE looks amazing.
