Should a redgard side with the legion or the stormcloaks? Thanks for ideas, or good support facts.

Hammerfel stood against the dominion on it's own, without the aid of the imperials, they broke away and took it upon them selves to rid their land of those pointy eared fu##@. So I would say either don't pick a side or at the very least side with the Stormcloaks but their intentions aren't much better then the legions.

I'd say Stormcloaks or don't pick a side. Hammerfell left the Empire, so they're not overly fond of it. xD

Don't pick a side. The Redguards hate both with a passion. The Nords of Skyrim for the wars they have fought against each other and Empire for not continuing the war.

Seeing as Ulfric is seeking an alliance with Hammerfell it could be logical to join the Stormcloaks.

Be careful censoring yourself. I got suspended for doing that, because apparently you're bypassing the system. Just use your potty mouth with reckless abandonment and the system in place will fix it for you.

Oh, and either side; there are a lot of Redguards in the Empire, however because of recent events Stormcloaks wouldn't be a bad decision. Role play a side and see how you like it.

True Redguard (Hammerfell Natives) hate the Empire and the Thalmor. Seeing as they broke away and are continuing to fight the Thalmor independently despite being such a small Province. Basically, they're badasses, and they probably wouldn't join the Stormcloaks. Might ally with them, but they are to proud of a culture to be commanded by a nord.

Depends on how you're rping, but really most people go for Imperial for redguards iirc, also go imperial because Ulfric's rewards are worst then things you find on low level bandits.

Just to add to the OP's question, how do the Alik'r fit into a Redguard backstory? I was completely stumped when it came to making a decision in that quest because I knew nothing really about what was going on in my Redguard character's homeland. Are the Alik'r a bunch of respected warrior (e.g. like the companions) or are they more of the ruthless mercenary sort? Anyone know?

Never thought about that I don't know a whole lot of lore that isn't from Skyrim, but it would be nice to find out.

Good thread and useful info. I've been debating this exact question with my own Redguard.

They seem to be regarded as elite mercenaries, though rather ruthless seeing as they are willing to let one of their own rot in prison for not being good enough to avoid being captured. Said member says they are supposed to be the best of the best, but they do not seem to be honorable in the Companions sort of way, as they can be credited both sneaking and using magic.

This is of course just my impression after the limited introdiction you get in the game.

Yeah, I wish Skyrim had dealt with things like this more. Along with the state of Morrowind and Orsinium.

I might be wrong here, but I think they're some sort of desert mercenary group(Named after the Alik'r desert) They were hired by the nobles of one of the coastal cities(I think it was a crown controlled city. I can never remember if the forebears or the crowns own the coasts). I don't know if they're fully allied with the crowns or not though.

The Alik'r are a group of fighters guild like mercenaries that have been around for a long time they are respected by many in the noble courts and public of Hammerfell.

You might be interested in two in-game books written by Redguards on Skyrim's current situation. One is actually written by a Nord, but there is a preface note from the Hammerfell scribe who's publishing it.

Buut what if you misspell a word by accident? Then the system won't fix it

Well seeing as the stormcloaks seem to hate anyone who is not a nord, and kind of remind me of nazi's at times with their ideaology, I would say that a redguard has no buisiness working for them.

Seems to me like Redguards as whole would want to stay out of the conflict. Let the Empire and Skyrim wear each other down and support an independent Hammerfell. Perhaps form an alliance with whoever wins the war and prepare for the oncoming Thalmor invasion.

Legion. The Empire has your back, the Stormcloaks don't.

And besides.. Stormcloaks are Nazi's.

I'd say go for the Imperials.

The lesser of two necessary evils in my opinion, they want equality for every race unlike the Stormcloaks who wanna boot every non-Nord outta Skyrim.

Stormcloaks or neutral. The Empire abandoned Hammerfell in the Great War, and Ulfric Stormcloaks is attempting to ally with Hammerfell.

I think Legions are more like Nazi's since the WGC. Think about how the Legions behave compare to Stormcloaks. Legions are basically slaughtering their own people, just because of their stupid law. However, Stormcloaks are in fact seems bit racist, but they don't kill any non Nord for no reason. They just don't want to get involved with different race's matter at the moment, because they don't want risk getting trapped by Legion/Thalmor spys.
