Redguard trying to choose a side in the war.

Post » Wed Jun 27, 2012 9:12 am

So, I usually play a Nord in all my Elder Scrolls games, but I decided to go different for once and choose a redguard light armor sword and board type character. Instead of my usual Nord Sword and board Heavy armor. But, the thing is, I hate the empire, and the way they are trying to take the Nord's home and traditions. I am also a Roleplayer, so I like to do things that are some what lore friendly.

What I am wondering is, would a Redguard have a reason to join Ulfrick's forces? Or would Ulfrick even allow anyone that isn't a Nord to join his forces?

I'm pretty sure that Ulfric wouldn't mind if a foreigner joined his cause... but the nords just seem so racist towards anybody that isn't a damn nord D:... I'm a Khajiit myself, and I'm kind of leaning towards the empire just because of this.

It depends on where your character's values lay. Does he care that the Stormcloaks are largely racist bigots? Is he more upset that Talos worship has been banned?

My Redguard warrior isn't getting involved because 1) Its a Nord conflict and 2) He has nothing to gain from fighting for either side. The Empire betrayed Hammerfell and the Stormcloaks, while they do fight both the Empire and the Thalmor, are completely pro-Nord and only benefit Nords not himself or Hammerfell. So yeah I staying neutral, though I wish you had the option to do mercenary work for both sides instead of having to join them.

Dude... the Empire has always been in skyrim, they are just preserving the Union you could say. They arn't taking anything.. the Thalmor are. And we all know the Empire will beat em in the next game.

The Empire abandoned Hammerfell (province of the Reduards) and basically left them to die by the Thalmor. The Redguards kicked some Thalmor butt, since every RG has some Chuck Norris blood, and separated themselves from the treacherous Empire. Ulfric wants to kick Thalmor butt too, so just join his cause.

This seems to be logical thinking.

But it sounds like your trying to roleplay your character, otherwise you would have already joined the Stormcloaks. If so, remember that every Redguard doesn't have to hate the Empire, like how some Nords joined the empire. It all depends on your character.

the stormcloaks are not racist, nords in general are about as racist as imperials or any other race but they do not put on a fron in public like imperials or some of the other races (so ignroe the people crying racisim as an excuse to hate the stormcloaks) and the emprie left the hammerfell to die when they still had a chance at beating the thalmor just to save themselves form any kind of loss (when they actually made their potential loss much much greater)

But you don't gain anything aside from fighting the Empire (for some revenge I guess) when you join the Stormcloaks. Their cause only benefits the Nords.

Just roleplay it, you are given some sort of prize like weapons or armors, or if you're on pc you can roleplay they pay you through console command.

but they plan on fighting the thalmor, that is enough if you ask me. sure they will probably fail because of the empire's choice to surrender at the worst possible time but they will at least do somethind. it might not be much but they will resist being uncreated which could get other provinces sitred-up or even get the empire off it's ass, hell they even have a cahnce to beat the thalmor if ulfric's plan works (he plans on leading the other nations against the thalmor, while they are all very hard-headed they may see reason)

Alrighty, thanks for the replies guys. I read a little bit of Redguard lore, and read some of the replies on here. I'm thinking my Redgaurd would join the Stormcloaks, since he wouldn't even think about joining up on the same side as the Thalmor, and to get back at the Imperials for betraying Hammerfell.

Thanks a bunch guys. =) I think one day I'll have to create an imperial just to see the Story arc for the Empire one day...But, I don't think I'll enjoy it all that much. =P

One of my characters is a Redguard and I think I'm going to side with The Empire, despite their betrayal.

The bigger thing is that The Empire is a dying parasite. It's crumbling both from within and without while svcking away at all of Skyrim's resources and labor. The empire has lost its divine rulers, its patron god, and its military strength. The best chance the rest of Tamriel has of resisting the elves is to break into independent kingdoms and form alliances against The Dominion.
