ED-E a reference to EDI? : Fallout: New Vegas

Just something I was considering regarding ED-E. The names are very similar, ED-E is a robot while EDI is the artificial intelligence on the Normandy SR-2 from ME2. Perhaps there is a ME fan on the Obsidian dev team?

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but it just seemed to be a strong coincidence.

It looks like a coincidence to me. Both are simply using the fact that "Eddy" can be easily manipulated to appear more technical.

As I said, it's very possible that it's just a coincidence. Perhaps we'll scratch this one up to my tired mind and looking for easter eggs/references where there aren't any

I don't think it's a coincidence, really. Those guys are big on references like that, and there's a lot of other very obvious references to other modern games (like Halo) just like there was in Fallout 2.

I have read that ED-E could have been a reference to the movie Stealth; where there was the unmanned EDI who also had a spherical processor.

Although I confess I've never seen the movie, it does sound possible.

The name supports my theory, in my opinion. Eyebot (Duraframe) doesn't have any particular significance, and the name could have been shortened to a multitude of other acronyms.

Dunno, but i pronounce their names the same way. ED-E is certainly does not have AI, though :swear:

This was my first thought after finding ED-E and weather or not if was a reference to ME2 or just coincidence. I'm guessing the latter but regardless I prefer to pronounce it EDI, rolls off the tongue better so to speak.

Regardless, I think of ED-E as EDI, and always refer to it as "she".

The "duraframe" means he is built to be more durable than standard eyebots. So yeah, it is pretty significant.
