Regaining Lycanthropy

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:11 am

So, I recently gave up Lycanthropy (before hearing of Dawnguard's adding of a werewolf Skill Tree), and i'm kinda holding on to this idea as a last ray of hope, but, does anyone find it odd that Aela the Huntress cannot be cured of being a werewolf? Anyone think the reason for this may be because she could give the disease to the player again later on, like after the new DLC?

Maybe it's because she doesn't want to give it up. Or it could be a game glitch

Unknown, what is known is when you become a vampire lord you're cured of lycanthropy and in this case you are given the option to become a werewolf again. But that doesn't mean there is an option for those cured the normal way.

No she likes being a werewolf, she even has the totems of hicrine quests thats why she can't be cured she thinks the beast blood is a blessing.

Thank you for the insight. It just makes little sense to me that you can gain and cure vampirism an infinite amount of times, but lycanthropy only once

I suppose it could be used as a game mechanic to make lycanthropy possible again, but if werewolves are going to be featured in the DLC wouldn't they just make it possible to become one from a different source? If not, then everybody will still be forced to join the Companions to become one, and if so then having Aela available as a source is unnecessary.

Besides which it would be disappointing from a storytelling perspective IMO, I mean she gave you what she thinks is the Greatest. Gift. EVAH and you gave it back. Not only that, but you are willing and able to provide the same cure for every other surviving member of the Circle who wants it. She strikes me as a pretty spiteful person (granted I'm biased, since I dislike her intensely anyway) and even if she is the Last Werewolf Standing in the faction I don't see that making her desperate or lonely enough to give you the same opportunity that you already had and ultimately rejected.

Excellent points Lyn. She does seem more than a little spiteful. And it was my original hope that another entirely new source be introduced due to the inclusion of the new werewolf related content. It's just I have heard zero confirmation on such happening, and have seen the question asked several times without answer. I guess we'll just have to wait?

My oppinion is the Dawnguard are all werewolves or atleast some are, because you can only get the werewolf perk tree if you side with Dawnguard, makes sense right

Yeah, if there's a whole perk tree (which I've seen reference to, don't know if it's true as my interest is minimal) and new content then it seems like keeping the werewolf thing exclusive to the Companions would be a little much. They'd be cutting anyone who doesn't want to join them out of the action entirely.
