Regarding Bethesda's communication with forums

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:14 pm

I got New Vegas for my birthday, 21st of october and it worked fine for me for a couple of days, until i was doing the brotherhood of steel quest where i saved it, exited, and then when i came back, like many of the people here on the forums, encountered the DLC bug.

I've seen a fair few amount of posts now that target Bethesda's lack of contact or letting us know any updates. So i contacted them by email, and this is what i got in reply: "Hello,

This is an issue that we have been made aware of and that we are currently investigating. Have you tried removing and redownloading the mercenary pack to see if that resolves your issue? "

It then goes onto explain how to clear the xbox 360's cache, which i've tried and doesn't help.

But from the sound of the email... i guess it's at least something in the news of updates, in that they're... aware of the problem... which might help quell the some of the rumors that bethesda aren't going to do anything about the bug.

If Bethesda are working as they say they are on the patch, then I have no problem with the lack of communication. It's just a disappointment more than anything that this was ever allowed to happen in the first place. I think after being off the game so long people forget how good the game really is.

Many times they aren't allowed to tell you how its going because they are figuring out what can be fixed in a reasonable amount of time and if they are cost effective. They might not yet know what they even can fix because they have to find the source, the solution and how much time it would take to fix. Have you ever notice how developers are tight lipped as to what will be shipped on the game ( Peter Molyneux can attest to tthis with his Fable games... says something will be in the game and its not). As a whole, we gamers get really ticked off about them removing mentioned content or a change in release date, yet we get upset when we dont hear about possible content or a release date. They have learned to keep their mouth shut until its absolutely for sure.

Yes, that's sometimes the case - but here it's just them not saying anything because they aren't doing anything. There is no forthcoming patch.

I personally believe that there will be most likely be a patches before any Dlc comes out or at the same time. Basically the DLC will have some fixes in it aswell.
