Hey everybody,
Mind explaining what are the differences between Rangers, Veteran Rangers and Desert Rangers? can you explain about each type and it's primary role in the wasteland?
As well, who's the best of them?

Well, I'll start with the oldest ones - Desert Rangers. Desert Rangers were a group mostly in Nevada that had origins in the pre-war Texas Rangers. They wore the outfits similar to the one on New Vegas' cover. Tycho, a Desert Ranger in Fallout 1, wore a version with leather armor instead of the LA riot armor. Basically, what they did was travel around and help people when they could.

Next, regular NCR Rangers. They are the elite branch of the NCR military that where the Ranger armor that's different from the one on the cover. Veteran Rangers are just members of this unit, but they're . . . Veterans. They proved their worth and earned the special armor that they wear.

Desert Rangers are no longer existent. They were assimilated into the NCR through a treaty because they had a common enemy, Caesar's Legion. That's why Veteran Rangers wear the armor that the Desert Rangers used to use.

I think all of the former Desert Rangers are Veteran Rangers, but not all Veteran Rangers were Desert Rangers.

So you're saying that there are no desert rangers at all? all of them are either retired or enlisted to the Veteran Rangers division?

Basically, yes. It's entirely possible that there are some remnants that still live the lifestyle (travel around helping people when they can), but basically, the Desert Rangers are no more. Who knows, if the Legion dwindles in canon maybe they will split off again, but I don't know.

You underestimate the power of the dancing bunny my friend, one time I was out on patrol when I got ambushed by a group of legionaries, I managed to kill all of them but just as I was about to continue on reinforcements arrived for them. They cornered me in a cave and I wad sure I was done for, when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw :bunny:

That dancing bunny gave me strength man, without it would have died that day, but with its help I was able to fight my way out. Never underestimate the bunny.

Reminds me of the time when my squad got captured by Muties in the ruins of DC, I was thrown into a pit of Centaurs and my squad was forced to watch them eat me, of course I instead killed one of them with by bare hands and used one of its sharp appendages to kill the others, when the Muties opened the gate to kill me for killing their pet, I stabbed one in the brain through the eye, threw its corpse into the lot of them, grabbed his gun and busted my squad from their cage, was a good day that day.
