Regarding the Nightingales...

Alright, so lore about the Nightingales. Mostly for my own purposes, I'm looking to find out the following:

- Would a Nightingale keep his identity a secret? Like say, wearing regular armor out in public, but then donning his "suit" when its time for business?

Main reason is currently, I'm trying to stay in casual wear and the like in towns, under the impression its meant to be a secret.

I was under the impression that he could be kept secret, but then again Karliah walks everywhere in it. I mean, the people in the guild are supposed to believe that it's a myth, and you're walking around in a full set? Smooth.

Recent events kinda let the cat out of the bag for your fellow Theives Guild members, It's supposed to be (and still is a secret) to people outside the theives guild.. Would require some serious RP on your part though. Switching betwen Guild-master armor and nightingale all the time.

Today a thief ran up to me and said something like, "I have been very lucky recently. Thank you, Nightingale." Then he gave me 500 gold and ran off. I was wearing the Nightingale armor, but assume this would happen either way because other thieves at least know what you are. I don't think a Nightingale must keep their identity a secret since it's such a secret order already.

Exactly: no-one comments on it if you stroll around town in broad daylight dressed like a ninja gimp. I would have preferred it to work like the cowl in Oblivion - giving you a new character when you wear it all.
