Reinforced Chinese Stealth Suit [New Vegas]
Author: Mars (aka Gaijune)

Description
===============
"RCSS" adds a reinforced version of the Chinese Stealth Suit to the Mojave Wasteland! With similar features as my original RCSS mod for Fallout 3, this mod implements a powered-up version of the Latexy Chinese Stealth Suit that resembles the likes of popular futuristic Ninja characters.

v2.1 Updates
===============

- Added the ability to craft 'upgraded' versions of the helm and ATS visor
- Added a flashy sound effect to the de-stealth effect
- Added Leo's Facewrap
- Added recipes for combining/separating Pauldrons
- Added appropriate world models when dropping the items (E.g. helmet now looks like a helmet when dropped)
- Minor name changes for the ATS Visor
- Logs from the Terminal now add notes to your Pipboy
- Revised the female version's mesh (see images for details)
- Revised the female waistguard's mesh to coincide with the armor's changes (see images for details)
- Fixed up the Bunker to be a little more home-like (Note: the place is safe to use as a player home, containers do not respawn)
- Fixed a problem that caused the Lakelurks within the Bunker to attack each other
- Fixed item ownership, so no thievery necessary to snag some fruit

General Features
===============

- Male/Female versions available
- Basic Stealth Functionality (A stealth and non-stealth version are included, simply sneak to activate)
- Flashy de-stealthing shader when standing up from stealth mode, akin to nightkin
- Night Vision Functionality (A NV and non-NV version of the visor is included, simply equip to activate)
- Assisted Targeting Visor, an instant Spotter perk item that makes aggressive targets glow red
- "Stealth Field Barrier", a static energy field that improves energy resistance
- Lore-friendly story

Location/Details
===============

East of the Abandoned Brotherhood of Steel Bunker, on the far east side of the map, and south of the Hoover Dam, you'll find a "Mysterious Nook" near a cache of Lakelurk eggs. Commonly Asked Questions and Resolved Issues
===============

Q: While the stealth field is active, my character's hair disappears/causes graphical glitches, what gives?
A: Game-related bug. The stealth field causes hair to suspend itself virtually anywhere it pleases. I've seen it attached to the Pipboy, the Sun, the entire Player Character, or my Weapon. I've played around with different stealth effects with no foreseeable fix, so equipping a helmet seems to be the only way to go if things get too bad.

Q: The item codes you have listed aren't working!?
A: Try increasing or decreasing your mod index number, even if it doesn't match the one associated with the mod.

Q: Things aren't showing up/Red Exclamation Points/Invisibility?
A: Make sure you properly install the files to their appropriate directory. Simply drag the included Data folder over your own and overwrite any files that may be present.

Q: Animation/controls/everything lock up when using this mod, what gives?
A: Creating a clean save before installing the mod has been proven to resolve this issue!

Q: The wrist is invisible when used with the Readius mod, can you fix it?
A: I don't use mods like that, so its unlikely.

Q: I can't equip X while using Y addon, can you make a patch so its compatible with Z mod?
A: Nope, sorry. If you want things to match up with another mod, you'll have to jump into GECK/nifskope yourself.

Q: Do you intend on adding NVSE functionality to the mod, for toggle stealth and night vision?
A: Eventually, maybe. Right now I'm happy with its functionality.

Q: Can you make a Night Vision version of the ATS visor? Or vice versa)?
A: Swap the .nif files if you want this done. Each visor is intended to look and function a certain way.

Q: What is up with the Waistguard (No Cloth)? It looks like you forgot to remove a piece?
A: I didn't forget. The armor is intended to be asymmetrical.

Q: Why do the shoulder/pauldron armor float around when I sit?
A: Anything in the game that has pauldrons suffers from this issue.

Q: Do you take requests?
A: I don't have much time on my hands, but I don't mind being given ideas/thoughts. By all means let me know what you think and what you'd like to see!

Q: Why don't you let people redistribute/modify/release your stuff?
A: Quality control, conflict prevention, past ordeals, etc. Feel free to modify this for personal use, but please don't send me requests to release custom content! :)

Licensing/Legal
===============

This 'port' of my FO3 RCSS mod uses assets from New Vegas, not FO3. I've done my best to follow the rules and regulations found on the Nexus sites, and will resolve any issue that may be found. Much had to be done to transfer everything over appropriately, so feedback is welcome if I didn't catch something!

Also, you MUST contact me and obtain my permission before re-packaging ANY part of this mod.

Ah, this is where we get to bowdown and thank OB for including 99% of the resources from the original game + dlc's.

The rules are now -I think-

"If it's included in the NVGeck, then you can include it in a mod for NV."

I don't know whether it was actually worded ver batum as such, but it sounds nice and legal-ish.

Yay!

Out of 200+ mods for FO3, this was the only custom armor that was ALWAYS in my game. Great to see it here in NV!

(Although the DT seems a bit high to me, when compared with vanilla assets - but maybe that is just me)

Thanks gaijune!

Glad to see you enjoy it! The suit has 17 DT, which is identical to Reinforced Combat Armor, and is a mere 3 points above the original stealth suit's 14DT. Ranger Combat Armor is 20. Power Armor is 25.

Have it and love it. I give it to Veronica, since it's got that techy BoS(ish?) feel to it.

Awesome job!

I thought the original stealth suit had 12, not 14DT. (I haven't gotten it in game - just going by what fallout wikia says)

Regardless my comment was about the total combined: suit + helm + waistguard = 27 DT

Compared to Reinforced Combat Armor of 17 + 4 (helm) = 21 DT

or even Mark 2 Reinforced Combat Armor of 20 + 5 (helm) = 25 DT

Again just a matter of personal taste, but I see the RCSS as filling the role of a reinforced "light" weight armor with some sneaky benefits --- ie it being a trade off of getting the sneaky benefits at the cost of a bit of extra DT that would come from wearing a high quality medium or heavy armor. I'd want the RCSS to be the armor of choice for my sneaky characters, not all of my non PA wearing characters...

You're right! I've been playing around in the GECK for v1.2 and forgot about the DT bonuses from addons. Now you'll get about 20 or so DT overall, to match the reinforced combat armor's spread. Modular pieces won't weigh anything or provide large stat bonuses, but instead will incorporate special effects.

Wow a new version? Awesome.

Thanks so much for this outfit. This is so cool. It's definitely in my essentials list for every new game from now on.

To top it off, I do indeed carry a Katana with my Sheriff's Hat while playing in this armor. :)

Update v1.3 is up. Revised pauldron meshes, Stealth Field barrier, a variant of the Waistguard without the coat tails, and a few minor stat alterations. Enjoy!

A few clicks in the GECK could solve that problem. :D

I'm really loving your armour, I've got the whole crew decked out in it.
An idea I had was a version that has a ranger style trenchcoat over the top, that'd be extra-badass.

I'm playing around with a few new addon ideas. A ranger coat included.

Also, if you updated to any v1.3, make sure its v1.3d. D introduces a fix for a pretty annoying bug that everyone was running into. Thanks!

Oh, that would be awesome! Something along the lines of the ranger combat armor, but with RCSS under the coat instead? *drool*

RCSS under the coat, yep. Also, the stealth boost is only provided when you're sneaking.

I've uploaded the first of a handful of custom texture replacements for those that aren't into the mod's default texture scheme. Simply download the optional pack, replace, and voila!

Also, there was a big animation bug that seemed to be introduced with any v1.3 update I made. Creating a clean save before upgrading the mod seemed to be fixing the trick. FYI~

anyway, that serious matter aside i think you should make some armors from scratch ;)

I enjoyed that, I don't like being given stuff without having to work at least a little bit for it and for me that was a nice little quest that made me go to some locations I wouldn't otherwise have gone to, well written backstory, and nice useful reward for my efforts.

Thank you :)

PS. Yes I have endorsed it over at the Nexus!!
