(REL) Cremation Mod

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:19 pm

Ever get sick of trying to roleplay disposing of a body by dragging it somewhere? Get sick of nosey individuals stumbling upon the corpses of you victims and raising an alarm? If so, then this mod is for you! This mod adds a lesser power to the game called "Cremate Dead" which allows you to cast a fiery orb at corpses and reduce them to ashes. Good for roleplayers wanting to grant last rights to bodies they encounter, this mod is also useful for it's ability to quickly remove potential enemies from the field when fighting necromancers.

The spell tome can be found just outside the walls of Riverwood, next to the campfire.

My idea for the mod back in January:

Currently I'm playing through the game as a merchant/crafter and roleplaying him so by not stealing or adventuring (Like Livingston's Nordrick http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/12/10/the-elder-strolls-part-1-fresh-off-the-boat/ ). As part of my character's roleplay, I've decided that seeing innocent corpses lying around is an injustice, and that they should all be given proper funereal rights. Previously, I had worked on burial at sea/river, but I had the realization that casting raise dead on them would effectively cremate them, leaving them as a pile of dust after 60 seconds. This currently works fairly well, but a cremation specific mod would be even better, for the following reasons:

Cremation Mod:

1. Add a 1 second duration raise dead spell to the game named "Cremate Dead"
a. Good for roleplaying
b. Keeps enemy necromancers from raising them to use against you.
2. Have the pile of dust dropped by the cremation spell not attract attention like murdered bodies
a. This allows assassin's to kill and then remove evidence.
b. You will no longer have a group of people gather and stare at a dust pile (not sure if they do that right now in game, but they do for bodies)
3. Possibly change the dust pile texture to a non-glowing grey.

I think all of that could probably be added in game now.

There are some tweaks i'm going to make. I just sat down and learned the creation kit today (just a bit), so I was still trying to puzzle out how to do the spell effects. I went with make it a lesser power instead of a spell so that it wasn't a cheap way to abuse conjuration gains.

I added a screenshot to the workshop page to help people find the spell tome if they couldn't find it. It's to your right when you fast travel to riverwood.
