Remove all xp fron kills

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:25 am

Please, people don't seem to grasp the concept of this game sadly. I would like to give them credit but they just don't get it. By removing all xp from kills they would be forced to play the game the way it was intended.

Then everyone would go Engineer or Medic to get the most XP possible. Engineers can buff damage and give out armor and have the most objectives and medics are always healing and reviving people for XP. Also, you barely get any XP from kills. Like maybe 30 or so.

No, they would be forced to play it the way you think it's intended. If SD had intended for kills to mean nothing they would have made kills mean nothing. If kills are worth nothing you end up with people waiting around for teammates to get shot off the objectives so that they can do them, it isn't a solution just a different problem.

Every game I have played except for 2 out of 100 have been no one attempting to accomplish objectives and just a team deathmatch which will cause severe issues with population here very shortly. If 98 out of 100 games are like this I would rather play another fps that is based around team deathmatch.

So you don't want to reward people for surviving a gun fight, but instead you want the reward to go to people who plant bombs on immovable objects that can't hurt them?

That goes against FPS logic.

I must compliment you sir, you have no doubt come up with the most awesome idea ever!

I mean how awesome wouldnt it be if everyone turned into peace loving hippies and just sat in a corner buffing each other for xp!

No to Violence!!

I'm sorry you wasted your time posting frivolous replies. This is obviously above your comprehension level. This post was obviously not for you.

If you don't want the community to reply to your topics, then don't post them.

What you obviously fail to comprehend is that people who don't play as a team generally don't give a flying [censored] about xp.

I don't know about you, but I sure havent been able to play through 100 online games due to extreme lag. Anywho, this is an FPS, you're supposed to have the option to play objective or defend the people playing objective by killing off the other team. Taking away exp from kills will inevitably lead to stalemates: no one wants to rush the objective just to get lit up by the other team because there is no one in the game activley going for kills.

I think it's good that you get XP for kills, coz else everyone would just do the objective and the carrying of guns wouldn't be needed at all! But Brink is an FPS, just like CoD, but what it makes it better than CoD is that you also have to do objectives to win, but if you try to do an objective without killing anybody and in the meanwhile they are shooting at you, you would fail completing the mission! So, I think SD did a perfect job balancing this element of the game so it wouldn't be just kill everyone on the other team but more blow the gate so the bot can go trough.

The players that are "just going for kills" and are ignoring the objectives are most likely just inexperienced with the game. "See enemy, shoot gun" is much simpler than "Switch to Operative, gain disguise, infiltrate enemy base after prompting Engineers to construct a side passageway, plant hackbox, set up perimeter, hack objective".

The quality of the online community will only increase as the CoD kiddies leave.

I think the game incentivises the various objectives pretty well. I am in agreement with some of the populace that engineers kind of get a bit much to do as far as objectives go though, and that could use some balancing to bring the other classes into the spotlight more (and I play as an engineer lol). But killing people is very necessary. I.E. if you don't have people killing the enemy team members and forcing respawns it can be very tedious to complete objectives. In fact, by being clever in how you kill and force respawns, you can quickly imbalance a firefight to gain a positional advantage for your engineers to capitalize on with turrets and mines. Taking away xp from kills would be to remove an objective (a very important one at that) from the gameplay which isn't a solution, it's a problem. The OP's real complaint seems to be with other people, and trust me, try to outthink peoples tendencies to fail to work together and they will surprise you with all new ways to frustrate you. Really, objective based game types in ALL multiplayer games suffer from this type of problem, meet people you know can play as a team, perhaps have a mic, and friend them. Find a team you like playing with and stick with it, or play single player games I guess. But I seriously suggest against coming up with quick fix ideas as these team developers tend to get paid alot of money to figure this stuff out, and they kind of have alot more riding on the success of the game than you....so it seems obvious that if you thought of it, they've already done it better.
