Render Unto Caesar mission glitch. is it solved yet?

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 11:21 pm

Anybody else having the problem where the legion is automatically hostile towards you? More specifically once you enter their fort? All of them are hostile if you aren't wearing their disguise. I already have the mark and no Boone or anybody else for that matter is following me. I really don't want to shoot up the camp and miss out on all the side missions. I've set my rep to idolized there but it always goes straight to negative when I get in contact with them.

Anybody else find a way to fix this through the console?

If Boone is not with you, and you carry Caesar's Mark, you should be safe as a lamb.
Caesar likes you (because he wants to use you to get some stuff accomplished).
The only way this could fail is if you are wearing inappropriate faction clothing.
Apparently there is a glitch whereby wearing faction clothing, repairing it with more faction clothing, then taking it off, it doesn't really come off.
In other words, you are still displaying and presenting as that faction...
I never put on any faction clothing throughout multiple playthroughs (200 hours +) because I heard about these bugs.
It's a pretty freaky game, ie. not too solid/stable - it's buggy.
Dunno how to fix it, but seek out and read about this faction clothing issue and possible cures.
I know it is easily fixable, if you perform certain actions.
Console commands would not be appropiate in this situation, since you must try to fix the problem...
Good luck,
Regards

I've been trying to isolate the problem myself just by looking back at what I have done and what it could be and I never considered that. I figured I either killed Vulpes or that other guy who can give you the Mark and simply forgot so the mark is in my inventory but isn't registering. Now that I think about it I may have repaired some of my outfits with apposing disguises. Still though, how would that explain me using fresh legion gear straight off a dead body? I was able to get a ride to the fort no problem and even work my way through it. It wasn't until I encounter the guy outside the tent or a couple other NPCs just walking around.

I was wondering if I could just do a fresh install or is it with my save file?

I tried reinstalling and it did nothing. Are my saves infected with this garbage?
