Render Window Rotates Around Selected Model, Stop!

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:21 am

I've recently started trying to mod Skyrim, and I was hoping the construction set would function like it did in Oblivion or Morrowind, and for the most part, it has, with the except of the render window. Whenever I click on an object inside the window, and hold shift (which is usually used to rotate the camera where it is), the camera pans around the object, and as far as I can tell, there's no escaping this. Unselecting the model doesn't fix it, and selecting a new one only moves the spot of orientation. Please help, I've been reduced to having to save and relaunch the Construction Kit every time I modify a single model.

Edit: http://www.gamesas.com/user/706318-mreos/, those "pre-existing" threads you linked to are on a completely different website and were posted after my thread.

Funny, I have the opposite problem. When I click on an object and hold shift, I get the normal rotation like you describe. Anytime I move that object, I lose the orientation and have to click on it again to get it back.

There's an option somewhere in preferences. Can't for the life of me remember it but just look through the preferences :D.

File -> Preferences -> Movement tab ... uncheck "Rotate camera around previous selection" and apply/close.
Seems to work for me, although I prefer it checked.

Shift + F when nothing selected will rotate on the spot, when something selected pressing it will orbit around the selection.

Same here. I can rotate around a selected object if I've just selected it but if I move the object or otherwise interact with it the next time I try to rotate around it, it doesn't rotate around the object anymore. I have to re-click the object again, even though it is still selected, in order to use it as a pivot point for the camera again. Really annoying.

Its not not rotating around the selection, its rotating around the objects original location when you first selected it. It is a bit annoying sometimes, I've gotten use to it but i could see why others wouldn't

Very much a thread complaining about this issue as well as my own suggestion.
TL:DR - We need FPS camera control/mode

Another camera related issue when dealing with objects.

I've noticed it'll stop rotating around the selected object all together, and i have to target a completelyh differetn object, press T or C, than back to m y original just to get it to orbit correctly again.
And even then, its iffy.

I've noticed that even though its selected/orbitting. It isn't centered. Its actually acts like an over the shoulder camera
