If I Rented This From Blockbuster, Could I Complete It In Fi

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:07 am

Simple thread! :) Considering buying/renting RAGE, have been doing since I saw a gameplay trailer for it back in June and it looked superb. Since it's come out, I've been hearing a bit of flak regarding its linear-ness, lack of online playability, and more general criticisms that I'm not entirely sure I agree with.

Basically, if I rented it from Blockbuster (£5 for 5 days, woo), could I complete it within my rental period? If not, should i buy it now, or wait until the sales chop it down to <£20?

Five days will be plenty. It's not a long game.

Rent it and play...if you like it then buy it...if you don't like it you are out only 5. Five days should be enough time.

5 days should be enough to complete the game. I managed to complete the game on nightmare difficulty in 6 days, well 6 nights actually. I played about 2-3 hours each night, I skipped some stuff cos I was trying to get it done as quick as I could but yeah 5 day should be plenty.

You can easily complete in 5 days, with some persistence. Your looking at roughgly 15 - 25 hours first run through on Nightmare, maybe more if you look at everything. Probably rent, then buy if you like, as someone suggested.

I personally love it, but not knowing your taste, your safer sampling before blowing a lot of money on a possible let down for you.

You should be able to complete it in one weekend. I spent about twelve hours on my first playthrough, but I ignored most side quests and mini games. I spent 27 hours on my second playthrough, doing most of the side quests and mini games.

Unfortunately Rage is both short and has no deathmatch, which is one of the main legitimate reasons many people don't like it. (Lots of FPS games only have 12-20 hours play time, but then they usually have deathmatch mode. Bioshock is the only really successful game I can remember that didn't have either a longer campaign or deathmatch.)

If you want to play multiplayer, you'll have to buy it of course. If you just want to do the campaign, rent it. Without multiplayer (which I have no idea about, since I have no plans to try it), there is really no replayability after you've done it once. You'll see nothing new or different the second time through. Five days should do it.

You can get the Anarchy Edition brand new for £20 in Gamestation or Game. I bought it on saturday morning and i'm about 10 hours into it and hav'nt had any of the problems people on here are mentioning. Best £20 i've spent in a long time. :celebration:

The answer is "it depends".

Some people have finished it in 8 hours; some have taken up to 41 hours. I did it in just a smidgin under 30.

I personally found that there's huge replay value in the game. Not that it's dramatically different second time round, and it is still quite linear, but there are missions that you can play in different order and which have increased/lower difficulty based on that, and there is also bound to be a lot of stuff you missed first time around.

A rent is probably best for deciding if you'd like to buy it and invest more time in it.
