Repair at a fake 100?

Post » Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:34 pm

Does anyone else have this going on?

I can repair items up to 100%. Not maintain, but fully repair a handful of low condition items up to 1 version at 100%, and my Repair skill is only at 33.

I love the game, but this feels like a cheat to me, not having to dump any points in repair.

Its not a bug

"While the Repair skill still affects efficiency (how much repair you get out of an item), it no longer determines the maximum condition of an item. That is, you can repair an item to 100% condition even with a bad Repair skill. It will just take a lot of items. We also have a "notch" in the condition bar that some people may have noticed. This notch marks the point where an item moves from needing repairs to needing "maintenance". Maintenance means that the item is either doing maximum damage (if a weapon) or protecting for maximum Damage Threshold (if apparel). Maintaining an item gives it a buffer of condition before its effectiveness starts to suffer. "

Cool. Good thing to know that I don't have to put any points into Repair whatsoever, because it just took three 25% Vermin Rifles to get my 40% Vermin Rifle up to 100, with my Repair skill of 33.

Loving it.

I was kind of being sarcastic when I wrote my last response about "loving it"... but I guess if that is how it is then that is how it is.

Even though my New Vegas was working okay, for the most part, I actually started a new character on FO3 last night. I'm thinking about going back to New Vegas until some bugs get worked out, or until I get my hands on a strat guide to read on some of the newer game mechanics to understand them.

The manual has a lot of 'splaining to do.

This is not a bug. You would know that if you read the manual.

Lol at your face.. And for your information, it was like that before the patch.

Geez, people are seeing bugs everywhere.

There has been a lot of changes from FO3 to New vegas. Do a little research before you scream BUUUUUGS

What page in your manual, because it sure as hell doesn't say it in mine.

Repair is still useful, there are lots of things in the game world that require repairing.

It's also useful to not have to trash 6 expensive rifles to fix another one.

Not as necessary as FO3, but I'm not dying to spend my points elsewhere.

Dont forget even though you can now repair a item 100% its still good to add repair points i cranked mine up to 90 for the Jury Rigged Perk allowing me to repair items and unique items with anything remotely similar.

This perk also helps those who dont want to glitch caps, by allowing them to repair expensive weapons and armor with cheap parts to sell for a nice sum.
