Repair skill

i was hoping they could make the repair skill in fnv like the repair in oblivion say u get ur repair to 100 then you can go past the 100% and make ur weapons and armor a little more efficient. this i believe would make the repair skill worth having.

As I understand it, the Repair System has been completely overhauled, at least with the addition of Repair Kits that would work similar to Repair Hammers or those Alien Epoxy things from Mothership Zeta.

But it wouldn't make much sense to be able to go over 100% for guns. I guess with swords you could make the blade extra sharp or whatnot, but a factory fresh gun will always shoot the best, unless you actually modify it in some way and that wouldn't be repairing.

From what I've heard the higher your Repair skill the longer it takes for armor and weapons to degrade, you can repair your things to higher conditions, and you are better at building ammunition and probably have more access to high tier ammunition types to create.

If I'm wrong or missed something somebody feel free to correct me. :tops:

EDIT: Also you can repair like you did in FO3 by combining like weapons and armor but now we also have repair kits we can use to repair things.

:nerd: good to hear that because i like the repair skill, it makes sense in a post apocalyptic game to have arepair skill, the weapons did degrade a bit too fast in FO3. i'll prob be tagging repair again in NV.

Factory fresh guns shoot like crap. Google History Channel's Top Shot and watch all the pampered pistol shooters whine about not having their fancy tricked out guns for the competition. Screw them. But they're right. Factory guns shoot like crap compared to a gun that's had substantial work done by a good smith. Doesn't your guns skill mean you know more about guns? like how to set the trigger? A high repair and a high guns should allow you to tune you guns so they DO shoot better than factory.

Making a gun go passed 100% you can achieve by fixing modifications to them, like a different bolt, an extended magazine et cetera. And that's confirmed to be ingame. :)

Alright, you called my bluff. I know absolutely nothing about guns haha.

So I guess it would make sense to have some kind of 125% repair thingy. But I still doubt it would be in the game.

I LOVE the repair skill in Fallout
and I love that they are adding repair kits
but exceeding 100% would probably have to be supported by some high level perk to balance that
and as said by Savage
the mods themselves can be viewed as a way to exceed a weapons normal capabilities

Has anybody also mentioned that anybody, even without 100 repair skill, can repair weapons to 100%? It's just that with a low repair skill, you will end up using 9 pistols to repair just one to 100%. I think that's better because it doesn't doom you to having crappy quality weapons all of the time if you have a horrible repair skill, but there is still an obvious advantage if you choose repair.

Fine by me. I humbly present to you: Master Armorer Perk. Level 24, min guns and repair of 80. Allows repair of firearms up to 125% of full condition. "After countless hours of tinkering, you've learned how to fine tune your guns' actions to get the most out of them."

I'm pretty sure I'd take that kick-ass perk. :tops:
