Hey, I'm jumping late on the Skyrim bandwagon but so far it's giving me a headache. I bought Skyrim from steam today and the last three hours I've spent going through all kinds of threads on different website explaining different fixes to the Skyrim intro crash. None of them seem to be working for me, sadly. I get a little bit into the intro cinematic where I'm sitting in the cart and then it crashes, usually after the line of: "...the empire used to be nice and lazy." said by the ?thief?.

So far, I have:
Changed my audio to 44,1khz & 16bit
Updated the driver on my ati HD 4870 x2
Verified the integrity of the game cache 5 times, it always shows up as zero
Tried running Skyrim with all other applications closed
Made sure I've got the latest Direct X
Deleted the ini files a couple of times
Tried to run it on low settings (Although the game detects high for me)

I'm trying to run the game on a pc with the following specs:
Windows 7, 32 bit
A pentium dual core processor ~3,1 ghz
4gb ram
Ati Radeon HD 4870 x2 video card

I'm a bit lost here and due to my recent absence from the world of computers, I'm not very good at problem solving. Help me out here! I hope my post matches your guidelines.
