ED-E replacing Dogmeat?

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 4:57 am

Yeah guess what I like ED-E... a lot, in Fallout 3 I never really used companions at all but now the thought of not having that plucky (and [censored] sweet looking) orb bouncing somwhere behind me or waiting expectedly at home for me is kind of weird. I would really like ED-E to take on the role of the absent Dogmeat for a while and reappear in the next Fallout game - provided it make sense of course - as a companion; who else agrees?

Sure. I wouldn't mind. It was never really in the way like the other companions at times - and while not really the talkative or too useful type, it wasn't a bother.

Stop reusing old characters f.f.s.

How about a bird next time? Give me a parrot and I'll be a pirate.

Only if I can, with my Repair 100 or Science 100, open that [censored] up and turn off his battle music.

Indifferent... I don't really use him much, or any companion, but I would love a different robot next time around.

After the upcoming patch, I will vote yes (when he is finally fixed :banghead: ). Right now though, no.

Well that's not really the fault of the character though is it? I mean whenever the next Fallout game is released it probably won't be on gamebyro everyone will have completely new coding.

I like ED-E, but I love Dogmeat.Dogmeat was perfect for peopls who don't like companions, but wanted one anyways. That only makes sense if you feel as I do...And I know I'm not the only one. ED-E's cool though and I wouldn't mind if he returned someday for whatever reason.

The name "Eddie" is generally masculine, yes.

Who says that it's pronouced 'Eddie' the name of the quest it merely a reference to a song - like almost every quest <_< - it's creator refers to it asixually as Eee Dee Eee; I don't know I always refer to it as short for Edith.

No Dogmeat ever again, just another dog. Dogmeat being a descendant of the one from FO1 makes no sense, as dogs don't generally carry on their ancestor's name and submit it to Lone Wanderers telepathically. It was a case of bad fan service in Fallout 3, and it would be really nice to have a brand new dog follower of a different breed.

As for ED-E returning . . . I wouldn't mind. Of course, like you said, as long as it makes sense.

Honestly I'd rather have dogmeat back than ED-E, don't get me wrong I love both of them and maybe its just the dog lover coming out in me but it just feels more "right" having a dog following me around than a floating jukebox/mobile [censored] carrier.

I like ED-E too, and I've probably used him/her more than any other companion, but I miss Dogmeat. He should be in every Fallout game.

I like the change. Vault Dweller was accompanied by Dogmeat and FO2 confirms this as canon. Chosen One was also likely to be joined by Dogmeat. It's heavily implied that the Lone Wanderer was also accompanied by (a different) Dogmeat.
The Courier though? We only have Rex, and dialog with the King and Rex's endings seem to imply he'll leave the Courier, as will all the companions. ED-E though? His ending says that he remained a constant companion to the Courier.

I just find the idea of some random tough-as-nails, charismatic cowboy-like figure traveling with a random ass Enclave bot that he has no idea what it truly is. A nice change from the same old Mad max setup of the others.
Once again, the Courier has the most personality of the protagonists, imo. :P

I don't use either, but I prefer ED-E by a mile. He's more fun to have around and fits my style better.

Too bad cats are extinct. I would love to have a Fallout version of my real life cat. He would just sleep all day at the B.O.S. Safehouse and I would have to feed him fancy feast (or Raul feeds him since I leave Raul to wait at base all the time....he can also change his litter box.) *Raul says* "Gee, thanks, Boss. I would love to change your cat's litterbox."

I like Dogmeat, better then ED-E, but I like ED-E. I would like Dogmeat and ED-E but no Rex. Didn't like him, don't want a cyber dog. When playing FO3 I always get Dogmet, I always travel with him and no one else.

The three times I've wound up with Dogmeat - I keep forgetting where Junkyard is, so when I fall over it I have to rescue him... ...But then he spends the rest of the game in the spare room at Megaton...(Wadsworth feeds/waters him and I installed a Dogflap  :goodjob: )...

I much prefer ED-E...I was absolutely gutted when I had to tell him to go in order to do Honest Hearts... ...I'd love it if Ed-E returned...My NV character is the Fallout 3 one (he suffered a memory loss), so the FO4 may be a decendant of him...So finding ED-E again would be cool for me...

That said, new companions would be good too, though I'd probably avoid most of them like I have this time... :bolt: ... ...

I feel the same, I used Boone on my 1st Recon character but generally avoid them. I think it's because I'm not scared in NV, FO3 made me scared to travel alone but I feel a lot safer in the Mojave.

I like the ED-E and it's the only companion it makes any sense to bring back as they have spread almost from coast to coast in the last two games. People don't have to use them if they don't want to.

What's odd about F:NV is it's the only one around.

But they probably won't bring it back, rather they'll replace it with something like a customisable Mr Handy.
