A request for a couple of simple, not too game-altering mods

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:52 am

I know it's a bit early as I don't even have the game yet, but nonetheless...

Aside from the need for an UOP.

1. Subtle speedbased headbobbing. Not too overwhelming, just something to tell me that my character is not just hovering over the rubble and sand.

2. A tad slower leveling.

The formula (if I'm not mistaken) is now something like:
z=n+(y+150)
where
z = overall xp need for next level
n = overall xp for previous level
y = previous xp gap raise
150 = the constant (or what ever the mathematical term is)

Changing the constant to 175 or 200 would alter the endresult nicely, but not too much. Even if the formula I gave was complete BS, the point would simply be to gently increase the gaps between levels.

I would like to add one thing to that list.

I got my copy of New Vegas today, found it on my doorstep after work. After playing for about 15 minutes I realized that I really don't like the third person view at all. I wasn't a fan of the over the shoulder view in Fallout 3, and am even less of a fan of not being able to zoom out and view my entire character from head to toe.

I know that in Fallout 3 The OTS view was corrected and would like to see it done again for this game too.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1120422-relz-arwens-realism-tweaks-thread-no11/ for FO3 uses a global XP multiplier which allows you to reduce all XP gained in any way by a certain percentage. It's probably better than changing the required XP for each level. I've played it with experience reduced to 1/5, and after 80 hours I was still only level 19. :P

I'm playing with 1/4 now, 1/5 was a bit too much. Or should that be too little? :P

I think this script relied on FOSE though, so I don't think it's possible to make that right now.

I'm not a "mod person" so I don't really know about these things, but I think it could be safer to adjust the gaps. IIRC in F3 some some slower leveling mods clashed with other mods that introduced new enemies - causing weird moments of raider A giving 2 xp and raider B giving 46 xp despite not being any harder to kill or holding any more valuable loot and such.

My Reduce XPR Multipliers do not require FOSE and they are very compatible, and you can change them in-game as often as you want. The only problem is that they are part of my Realism Tweaks, so you will have to install my Realism Core module, which does WAY more than just change how fast you level up.

My Tweaks also change the 3rd person camera maximum distance that you can zoom out (to 5x default). An early Beta version may be ready by late tomorrow.

Check on newvegasnexus there's 3-4 different camera mods already up.
