Request for player housing options

Post » Tue Apr 26, 2011 8:18 pm

If fast traveling, the Lucky 38 suite is seven loadscreens of tedium (entering: fast travel, enter strip, enter casino, enter elevator, leaving: enter elevator, enter strip, fast travel). I upgraded the suite and then never returned to it. It would be really nice if we could fast travel to the entrances of casinos with "unlocked suites" (appearing inside the lobby per normal, to have our weapons confiscated).

To make matters worse, the Lucky 38 suite is the only player housing option that companions can return to (other than their starting locations). I don't have high hopes for this possibility, but it would be nice if a future DLC or patch would allow us to tell a companion to "meet me in Novac", "meet me at the Wrangler", "meet me at my Tops suite", etc. (if these housing options are "unlocked").

Sidenote: I started this thread in the DLC forum because it's a good place for requests and because future DLCs could introduce new housing options.

Yah I was thinking, it really wouldn't be that hard to make a fast travel location to in front of the lucky 38. And if we just got the option to set a spot as our base/house that would make companions go there when fired would also be nice.

The Strip's loading screens are because consoles would (supposedly) run out of memory if they didn't break it all up into segments. :(
I think JE Sawyer gave a rationale about the fast travel points once, but I don't remember exactly what it was. Something about some of the quest triggers, perhaps? Don't quote me on that, I'm probably wrong, I'd have to look it up.

Agree that more options to tell the companions to wait to would be nice. I don't understand why there isn't that option for at least one non-House affiliated 'home.'

There is no excuse for the lack of reloading bench & camp fire hot plate at the Lucky 38. I would be willing to suffer the numerous loading screens if those existed instead of a few extra containers.

I think it would be nice if they added a motel somewhere, and had individual rooms for you and each companion.

A home you can build and upgrade would be great. If you've got science and parts, maybe some badass robot guards. Hired mercs to defend it for you, something like that. It would be a fun thing to sink extra caps into. It might even motivate me to go around gathering money.

Maybe over time and through your own skill choices you could build it into something personal and luxurious. That may be a lot of development time right there, so it's just me fantasizing. I'd pay a pretty penny for it though.

P.S. The loading time to get into some of the suites are crazy though. There need to be fast travel options right into them, provided you don't become hostile with their inhabitants.
