Request for Tutorial

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:45 am

Bethesda/Obsidian,

When Fallout 3 was released along with it's GECK, Bethesda created half a dozen YouTube video tutorials to teach us the basics and some advanced topics on how to use the GECK to create content. They were very well received and taught alot of us how to use the GECK - they were invaluable.

I would ask now that New Vegas is released; if Bethesda and/or Obsidian would be willing to do some additional tutorials of this kind?

My selfish modder instincts are to ask for tutorials on advanced topics that we struggled with; such as LOD and LipSync. However it might be more fair to ask for tutorials on the new features specifically added with New Vegas; such as the new Dialogue Editor, the new Weapon Mods system and the Crafting interface (if one exists, I can't find it!). Such tutorials would be right in-line with promoting the features of the new game, and would help the community out.

Thank you for reading and considering,

Miax

I second this. I learned alot of the basics of GECK following the YouTube video tutorials Bethesda made. As Miaximus says, it would be great to see video tutorials about the new functions in the New Vegas GECK.

Sad news. I made a closer look at the dialog system in the new GECK and LIP syncing is still not possible. The needed DLL is missing such as it is in the FO3 one.
To make LIP files for NV the old Oblivion CS is needed as it was in FO3.

Btw. I finally arrived in the Mojave Wasteland ;) .

Too bad to hear about LipSync, but as you say at least we have TES for that still.

If you need to know how to use the CS to make lipsync files, try my tutorial. :)

Indeed, some videos on how to use any of the new features would be nice.

Is there some reason they haven't included that file twice now?

Probably a licensing issue. The company they licensed the lipsynching code from might have demanded a lot of money to allow their content to be redistributed.

That svcks.

I wonder what chances we've got for the powers-that-be telling us what is required. If it wasn't -that- bad, I'm wondering if people could donate enough of a chunk to let them include it?

Bah. Pipe dream, I'm sure.
