REQUEST: Less Cumbersome Executions

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:50 am

As the title implies, I'm not sure if I'm the only one who finds curb-stomping my incapacitated opponents too awkward and cumbersome but I'm finding myself unable to kill an incapacitated opponent faster than they can revive themselves.

As a support character, I'm often Medic-proofing the battlefield for my allies by executing incapacitated opponents but often find the feedback difficult to read and the process of crouching and aiming for the character's tiny execution hitbox to melee sometimes more difficult than it needs to be (IMO).

My request would be a standing execution option that is less unwieldy and has a large collision/trigger volume to activate (nothing svcks worse than accidentally slide-tackling an incapacitated opponent only to suffer through a slow stand up animation and turn around to see him fully revived and healed by an enemy Medic -- who then incapacitates proceeds to incapacitate me).

Well, clearly, you're doing it wrong. All you have to do is walk up to thier body, look straight down, and melee. Nothing about crouching. Works every time, are you sure you know what you're doing?

The hitbox for executions is so small that simply standing over a prone opponent doesn't always (if ever) kill an opponent with a melee strike. I'll try Youtubing it when I have the time to illustrate what I mean.

I'm having the reverse problem... bots especially are doing melee instant kills with rifles constantly to a full health medium build character... it's frustrating as all hell

melee right now is way OP... like for instance, use a pistol and slide into an opponent and stab while you're standing up after the slide and it's a one hit kill that can't be avoided... complete BS

What's worse, is on PC I can't even get melee to work... there's no keymap for it, it just happens or doesn't all on its own.

"V" is the melee attack button for PC. Never had a problem with it, though you can always re-bind it if you're having issues.

Thanks much!

I wonder why it got left out of the keymapping screen o_O

It's there on one of the keymapping screens. I just can't recall off-hand which it is and I'm not at home to check it right now.

This is actually two melee hits. The slide take is considered a melee hit, and then the knife stab is the second melee hit. So not OHK.

And as to the OP, I do not have any trouble standing over a downed opponent and melee killing them.

You can't move during the execution animation or it will likely miss. This does bring to mind though how all the buffing/revive character action animations are somewhat slow to execute. Since it's equal across the board I think it is ok and it does add a certain level of tactical thinking. I do wish they were all instant though. I think it would speed up the gameplay--in a good way.

I'm on PS3, and I don't have a problem with executions. And I don't crouch to do it. Line up on the head or torso or the downed enemy, hit the button and make sure you stay over the enemy and aiming at them.

It's not that hard.
