Requesting a little help.

I've never touched a mod project or program in my life, so please forgive me.

I'm trying to take the spriggan face, and substitute it for the scale helmet, so that you can wear the spriggan face, and it has the values of the helmet. I could have sworn that I've seen the spriggan face laying on the ground by itself in the game, but apparently, all I can find in the Creation Kit are 2 variants of the spriggan face on a stick. This means, I'm assuming, that I'll have to remove the stick via an alternate program, and possibly change some sort of physics properties to make it not be in the air, I think.

On top of that, it's not an armor already, so there's that.

Basically I have no idea what I'm doing. I watched a few vids, downloaded a few progs (blender, nifskope) and attempted to export the nif file Clutter\Hagraven\HagravenDeadSpriggan01.nif but I have no idea what the first part of that address is.

Edit: I'm also assuming that I'll have to align it on the face of the character and test that a million times, and it won't fit most characters etc etc stupid.

tl;dr
I have no idea what I'm doing and it's making me anxious like I have to poop.

In Nifskop you may be able to remove the branch that has the stick and save it as a different filename. Make a copy of the scale helmet record in the CK and rename it. Open the new record you just made and drag it into the render window, right click, edit, the change the model to the nif you made in nifskop.

I've no idea if that will work.

How do I open the file in Nifskope? I don't know how to do that, which seems to be the first of my problems.

http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/NifSkope_Comprehensive_Guide

Replace the nifskope settings for the oblivion paths with skyrim. You have to set the resources AND the render window up.

You have extracted the .nif from the BSA?

http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/BSA_Unpacker_Tutorial
have no idea what the first part of that address is.

Clutter\Hagraven\HagravenDeadSpriggan01.nif

is just the directory structure. \Clutter includes the \Hagraven subdirectory which includes the \HagravenDeadSpriggan01.nif.

When you put the modified .nif into skyrim, it will be stored in \Data\Meshes (the install path for Steam with the Computer\program files\steam\blahblahblah truncated)

The full path for your modified mesh will be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\Common\skyrim\Data.

If the BSA was completely extracted the full path for the original .nif would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\Common\skyrim\Data\Meshes\Clutter\Hagraven\HagravenDeadSpriggan01.nif *or something similiar*.
