Restarted!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:23 pm

I decided that I made some mistakes first time setting up, so 18 hours in I decided to make the tough decision to restart. But I am extremely pleased. Its a little redundant, but it has been worth it so far!

so anyone else do this?

35 hours in and thinking about it. I think i could have gotten by with less of a survivalist type character. Over estimated hardcoe mode

I restarted once at about level 10ish or so because I was suddenly unable to survive with all my points in Energy Weapons instead of Guns. Wasn't really optimizing the character for best crit chance. Liking this Guns playthrough much better.

3 times.Once with 10 hours in, another with 44 hours in and the most recent with 56 hours. Will I ever beat the game? :shakehead:

Naw. When I found out that Small Frame + hardcoe = lots and lots of broken bones, I still press on, namely collecting every Doctor's Bag I find. I end up only using 1 out of 35 bags out of the whole game because I was too cautious and performing guerrilla warfare.

Amen to that. Some people seem to think Small frame is like the best trait. I found the continuous breaking of limbs easily fixable, but an extreme annoyance.

I restart alot most games..

I first had a character with 1 agility and 3 luck.. energy weapons and explosives build.... eeeeeeeeeeew that didnt work well.

Tried a high agility high luck fast shot energy weapon build and one with trigger discipline.

Finaly settled on my current build and its the best by far of my energy weapons tries..

When you restart, do your other saves delete?

This did not happen to me in F3....

I took the Adamantium Skeleton as a counter to that.

Still on my first character though (level 20-ish and about 45 hours in). There are half a dozen things http://blog.wuphonsreach.org/2010/11/fonv-second-play-build.html, but for the most part, I'm content to muddle along. The doctor's bags fix the limb issue, and it's not hard to get caps for the better weapons like the Hunting Rifle & Shotgun. Plus there are NPCs that can repair to 100% if you have the caps; so a good weapon in nearly perfect condition makes up in a lot of ways any screw ups with perks or SPECIAL choices at the start.

I'll probably take this character all the way to 30, do as much exploration as I can stand, then go do the final battle or whatever you do to end the game.

yeah i was about to do the same for a bit there playing with small frame, but figured i could live with it.
it did get easier to deal with and a few perks and implants much later starts to negate it out.
was feeling like harry headwound there for a bit though.

The worst part of starting over is going through that damn character creation system.
I hated F3 for it and I am hating Vegas for it as well.
Just show me a stat screen and I'll be fine. Let's get on with it.
I came to make a character not see how clever you could make making one be.

I actually dont mind the draw back of small frame, it happens often but I like having a weakness, FO3 never had that element of "AW Crap not again" to it. you know what I mean?

I had to restart on hardcoe bc my 110 hour, 10MB file got so corrupted that I couldn't load the Strip with the black screen of death every time. I kept the monorail intact, so that's my trump card. Kind of p@ssed Obsidian didn't put a quick-travel marker there like everywhere else, total BS...

I always restart games several times before I actually get around to finishing! I do it with every single game I've ever played, it took me 7 years to finally get around to finishing the MQ in Morrowind. I'm just fickle... :sadvaultboy:

Easiest fix for this

Make a char. when you hit the 'if you go beyond this point you can't make changes' .. say 'oops, no'.. SAVE... then continue
From then on, if you want to do a new char load that one save (and never save over it :) ) and then go and make all changes you want. skips the whole process :)

Restarted my first character about 30+ hours into the game, spent way too many points on Survival and not nearly enough on Speech.

I'm about 40+ hours into my 2nd character and I seriously want to roll an new character, but I'm at a high enough level where it could go either way. I'm probably going to finish up the BOS quests and just rush to the ending so I can start another new character and maybe play all the way to level 30...

Haven't restarted, and unless it gets to be a big problem, have no plans on restarting until I beat the game (then is it restarting?).

I was well into my second play through and I was lazy and was using the console for things like "TCL" and I noticed that using the console for anything forfeits achievements :sadvaultboy: So, there's 54 hours of my life I'm never getting back. So, now I'm on my third time through, It's ok, this game is like crack.
