Restoring the Thieves Guild to Glory

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 9:17 am

I've completed all the Thieves guild quests. All that's left are these side missions given out by guild members. Do the side missions actually do anything? The one girl says something to the effect of, "Once we get the extra jobs out of the way, the guild will become great again". I've done 10 or so of these tasks and have not seen any changes to the hideout at all. So do these tasks have any noticeable effects on the guild? Or are they simply ways for the player to make money?

I had to do around 15 or so just for a vendor to show up, from what i hear you have to do alot of little quests. then the quest givers will give you a bigger quest with more of a storyline. Then you have to do five of the bigger quests to complete the thieves guild

I'll take my post from a previous thread and put it here

You need to do enough of Delvin and Vex's side missions (can be any of them, burglary/heist/bedlam/sweep etc. etc.) in each of 4 towns other than Riften (Whiterun, Windhelm, Solitude and Markath) to raise your influence in each city.
Once you have done enough quests within a specific city (it can be anywhere from 5-10 quests for each city) Delvin will talk to you about a special quest from some contact in each of the cities. Go to the contact, do their special mission and that will result in the thieves guild gaining a merchant (in the same area as Delvin and Vex) and some other minor benefit (like a Fence in the city in question and the ability to bribe city guards to ignore a crime).
By the time you have done the special quests in each of the 4 towns you will then be promoted to Guild Master (and get some very nice armor), the you will have access to 4 merchants (with all the crafting stations as well) and a key to the guild tribute chest (in front of the guild masters desk - where Mercer was standing) which I believe occasionally gets filled with gold.

A quick note, the side quests are randomly generated, so cancel any jobs you get for Riften (as they don't count towards the influence quests) and once you have done the special quest for a given city cancel any jobs you get given in that city too.
