Returning to Eldergleam Sancturary

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:23 pm

I just did Eldergleam Sanctuary, and ran out rather than fight (has been a long gaming day and a long real life day!) I lost Maurice along the way so had to fight.

Since I ran out, leaving the spriggans wanting to attack me, if I go back later what will be the state? Will they still be there wanting to attack me? Will they not be there? There's a chest in there I didn't know I could loot with a skillbook that I want to go back for.

Thanks for info :D

How did you get to the tree to get the sap ???

The roots seem to be blocking every way to get there.

Gladly take any help or tips :)

Needs a chill pill. I didn't see any sarcasm whatsoever. A short concise answer is all.

Try crawling underneath the roots if you don't want to do that.

It's definitely not a "user friendly" sort of thing.... I had Nettlebane equipped (due to assuming I would have to attack the tree itself if I ever figured out how to get there....) I wound up talking to one of the folks "communing" there (the woman I think....) and something in her comment tree caused me to try attacking the roots.... I was really surprised that it worked, AND I felt dumb that I didn't "get" it right off.

There's a way to handle the situation in Eldergleam without triggering a spriggan riot... too late for that now, though.

Not the only one.....lol
Didn't even dawn on me until the one woman mentioned how the tree reacts to nettlebane.

After 30 minutes of not being able to jump around the roots, I just started attacking them with whatever I had. Just chanced upon nettlebane helping.
At least I feel better that I wasn't the only one who didn't get it at first. :)

Well.... it wouldn't be too late for this toon, or future ones.... if I knew what it was....

After you clear the path of roots, Maurice will try to talk to you, if you haven't run too far ahead of him. Listen to what he has to say.

This, if you talk to Maurice he will help you. Just try to keep him alive. On my first Character we were attacked by a dragon. Maurice ran up and started to fist fight the thing...It didn't end well

Hold on now, who the [censored] is Maurice?!

I did this quest with Lydia at lvl 10-15, the quest description said that you have to attack the roots, that lady warned me about not hurting the tree, ran to it, got the sap, returned, killed 2-3 spriggan things, exit.

Where the hell is supposed to be a dragon involved and who is this Maurice you're talking about. There was a guy fishing in there, but his name was shorter, can't remember it though...

He's a guy in The Temple of Kynareth in Whiterun. After you get the quest to get the sap with Nettlebane, he's supposed to talk to you and ask if you'll escort him to the Sanctuary. If you run out too fast, he might not have the opportunity to ask you.

Unfortunately he died for me on the way, too, and after talking with the people there, I don't want to attack the tree. Do I need Maurice to do the non-violent method (and if not, what is it)? svcks that I have the quest stuck in my logbook and Nettlebane stuck in my inventory since I don't want to do the quest as requested after getting that little twist in the Sanctuary. If there's a better way to go about it than by attacking the tree, I'd love to know so I can get it out of my active quests.

OK so no one has gone back later to see what happens. Guess that will be me...I'll run back over there today and see if spriggans await me or if the two NPCs that live there are still around or not.

I knew I had to equip Nettlebane because there was mention of it in the quest and you had to get the sap...Some places wouldn't cut but the roots lifted exposing a new section of roots to be cut.

My Maurice died when we passed the fort prior to the sanctuary. He rushed over to fistfight the mages. Maurice obviously wasn't the brightest on the block...

@crookie Maurice comes up to you inside the temple after you get the quest, and asks to join you. It's his life dream to see the tree. Very sad he didn't make it in my game.

@Gankaku: Guess I ran out too fast and didn't get Maurice. I wanna mention that I've completed the quest but the Nettlebane still remained in my inventory.

I will try to contact Maurice at the temple, take him to the sanctuary and maybe get rid of Nettlebane this way.

I just thought it's a quest reward, can't remember though cause lots happened since then.

Maurice died on me too... he decided to take on some Vampires on the side of the road. So, I reloaded, discovered Eldergleam Sanctuary on my own, went back and fast traveled there with Maurice. Worked out great.
