Reverse-Pick Pocketing

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 11:33 pm

I LOVED Reverse Pick-pocketing in FO3. It made me feel good to dress up big town in full suits of power armor. Seeing them just defend against the muties so well was worth the karma loss.

Also, all clothes I got... and seeing the cute little lamp lighters all dressed up in mini versions of BoS armor.

So, memories aside, does anyone else do it?
I do it very much in game with my stealthy hit man character. Camp Forlorn Hope hit my soft spot, so I put NCR Veteran Ranger Combat armor onto EVERY SINGLE troop there. It is pretty neat seeing them wipe out the Legion in style. They are much more protected, and they look good too.

In Freeside, I saw RotFace get smashed by a sledgehammer and die. Sadly, I couldn't save him, but I started equipping every character that I liked in some serious armor to protect themselves with, so I wouldn't have to live those horrible memories again.

On a side note... would reverse-pickpocketing weapons onto characters make them use it as well? Or do I have to pick pocket some ammo onto them?
1st Recon needs to have more elite weapons than some puny sniper rifles...

For weaponry, it has to do more DPS than what they already use, but you only have to give them 1 round for them to have unlimited ammo.

I did it once in bigtown but got caught doing it on the last person and the whole town turned on me so after that I was like this is BS so I never did it again. They should make it a non karma related option to give random people weapons and armor.

I prefer to give them grenades.

It's in this regard only that I miss the godly Chinese Stealth Armour of FO3. Way overpowered, but it made reverse-pickpocketing much easier. Without it, I'd have to burn a stealth boy, and they're in such short supply it hardly seems worth it.

I think they should just allow us to exchange inventory with NPCs like we do with Companions, that way there is no Karma Loss. There would need to be some limitations on it, like the NPCs would only take things that would benifit them (no giving them a grenade to blow themselves up with). Some NPCs would only be able to use certain weapon types and would only accept those. If you gave an NPC something they needed, like food or medicine or money, then you would get a rep/karma boost of some kind. Not sure what game purpose this would serve, but it would help my role playing.

As for the Reverse Pick Pocketing, I only did a couple of times, as the game never really requires reverse pick pocketing to achieve my goals.

I never reverse-pickpocket. Though I do like to plant items.
