Seeing great reviews for RAGE!!! 9/10's, 9.5.10's, 4/5's and 4.5'/5's!!!!! finding alot more excellent scores than any bad :)

**NOTE: I'm aware the links for some of these reviews are not working correctley on this post. I was dumb and did not use the "insert link" button in a mad rush to get these reviews up, and just copied and pasted them. Until I get done being lazy and playing RAGE to fix the links to the articles, just goto the respective site for the review article... sorry bout that**

How could PC gamer POSSIBLY have given it 84? That's impossible, the game doesn't work. That's literally [censored] impossible. What does it matter what scores it gets if 90% of people literally can't play it?

Which means its THAT AWESOME, that even with some things needing a patch here and there, the game still manages to get a 84/100.... now tell me, had the texture and crashing issues been resolved, i bet we'd seen a 95% or higher

Yes, if I can play it and it runs as it does on consoles, I would personally give it a 9.5 score from what I've seen. But it doesn't right now, and until it does, I can't possibly give it that score. I'm also just really annoyed that they didn't develop it with PCs in mind. 4 weapons usable at any time? I wonder if that's because there are no number keys on a gamepad to easily change between weapons. Mouse smoothing, recharging health, etc, all of these things really honestly grind my gears because they get in the way of simply enjoying a good game. No games from Valve have done ANY of this stuff, and they are released on consoles as well. I wonder if that's why they get great scores on all platforms.

What I expect from an FPS is to get an awesome feeling of weight to my weapons, a feeling of impact when I shoot things and some good pacing. Rage seems to have all of these, but it doesn't work atm.

Reviewers often get paid off, or threats are made to them that a bad score could result in them no longer getting games ahead of time to review etc

Go check out Metacritic to see USER review scores.

The page doesn't even load for me, but back when it did the game had a 3.7 rating.

When you compare the scores given by reviewers to the scores given by players, and considering the PC version is broken, there's almost no doubt they're not being honest. It's almost like they're on crack or something or living in a parallel universe where the game works.

Or they did not even review the pc copy (more then likely) and Just played the console copy and said it was the PC one.

it had a 3.3 rating actually by a couple of user score trolls who either dissed the game before release or couldnt get it working on their machine, no professional review had a 3.3 rating, lololol

and besides, here's the link

I copied and pasted the links into the forum incorrectley, i didnt use the "insert link" button for each article, thus it cut off some of the URL's, i'll fix it later, sies...

That's the xbox version... and we were talking about metacritic, which accumulates unspoiled user ratings.

The problem is more than just the PC version exists... and the PC version isn't a problem per se, it just needs a nice hefty patch. Luckily, the game itself, and the console versions, makeup for the buggy-out-the-door PC version. Give it time, man, they will get it fixed.

And if you look on the corrected Gamespot review I just posted above, the user score went up... its 8.5/100 as it was only 8.2 a couple minutes ago... i expected it to rise and fall and then even at about 8.8 or 8.9, as the user scores tends to settle.

I agree with you on that, I'm going to patiently await the patch, unlike most people losing their marbles on release day. This is PC gaming, you sign up for this when you decide to play on PC, a very complex and wide ranging platform running a completely new engine with completely new technology (mega texture). So I'm not really worried, unless they just can't fix it and Carmack goes on YouTube and makes a video saying "We screwed up, woops."

You keep saying "the PC version is broken" except if thats the case... why's it running so well on my PC? hmmmm? albeit a minor texture pop in that I've tweaked almost to the point where it's not there, and console-quality texture, it runs perfectley fine?

Is there anything I might be able to help with, any questions you might have as to why its not running on your machine? If so, just message me... and I'd be glad to help? I'm truly sorry your's didnt work out of the box, i really am... your missing a great game... but that doesn't mean its like this for everyone. If you would like any troubleshooting, I'd be more than happy to help... no joke.

"So, just to sum up my nine plus hours with the game so far:

No story to speak of
No characters that make an impression
Linear
Broken save system
Dull mechanics
Tedious quests
Weak shooting
Stock weapons
Racing is fun
Minigames are enjoyable
Very pretty

We'll be testing on PC and playing multiplayer in the coming days, but I felt it was important to share what the game is versus what people expect it to be. This is a massive disappointment.
Verdict: Skip"

Oddly enough, I didn't think the graphics were great at all... but thought the shooting/action was great, lol

I'm on the 360 and I would give it 9.5 out of 10. One of the reasons I would give it 9.5 was the co-op hype and it is only 8 missions. I would have rather them dropped a silent protagonist in so you could do the main campaign in co-op.

Yes... it IS like this for almost everyone. You are the odd man out. And also incredibly passive aggressive. Thankfully it will be fixed by ATI later today so we can put this to rest.

Nice collection of reviews there beavermatic! Perked me up a bit :)

I misinformed in another thread (I've since edited it). I said Game Informer gave a bad review but they didn't - they gave 9/10, review here: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/rage/b/xbox360/default.aspx
The bad review of 65 was by Strategy Informer and to be honest, the review read quite amateurishly with lots of comparisons to Borderlands and reluctance to give credit where credit is due.

Joystiq's review gave 3 / 5 (which translates to a 60 / 100): http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/04/rage-review/

Not trying to be negative btw. I felt a bit disappointed earlier what with so many PC owners crying and the odd downer review. However, when I saw the excellent Gametrailers video review and IGN's video footage, it reminded me that I know I will love this game.

That's a HUGE plus for RAGE to go from their previous score to a 9/10 :)

glad to see game informer get that straightened out!!!

Most reviews seems to have been of the 360 version.

So I doubt anyone put the fact that the game is having some problem on some PC hardware into the review.

I honestly think reviews should hold off on PC version until the hardware vendors, like ATI, can get their drivers updated... alot of blame and hate going on for RAGE's graphics issues and boot issues likely caused by faulty drivers as ATI has already announced from their own OpenGL driver problems...

I think that the ATI driver will fix some issues, but I dont think the texture pop-in issue is going to go away honestly, and im surprised they released it like that on the xbox360+ps3, just goes to show they actually knew about this issue, And either didn't care or thought it was acceptable. Just strange really strange for them trying to make "cutting edge tech"

Nokturnal... makes me wonder, jsut because the console versions don't seem to have the texture pop-in issue, not screen tearing... I've been playing on all three on and off since midnight.. the consoles look drop dead gorgeous, with almost no graphics bugs whatsoever... wonder what really is causing all the issues on the pc version that people are reporting? I see a little bit of what everyones saying myself in the PC version, but then I go on youtube, and people are showing pop-in issues beyond what i'm seeing... almost seems to be driver related in some cases... just my honest opinion

sorry to go off topic.

I'd say why they have good reviews, then the moderators would just delete my post for the 10th time. This forum is like a communist country @_@. Thank god for steam.

I think you know very well why some of your posts were removed, and that has nothing to do with us being pro-this or anti-that (or communist for that matter). If you don't know why some of your posts were removed, then I'd urge you to read up on the rules that you might have just skipped over when you were in a hurry to register on the forums today. They explain a lot about what we deem acceptable on these forums and what not.
