No reward for maintaining hardcoe mode?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 3:51 pm

I completed fallout NV yesterday and after the credits were done showing, it sent me back to the main menu as usual but i recieved no reward for maintaining the hardcoe mode whatsoever.

I did use the console a few times though.

Assuming Steam didnt bug out, you should have been rewarded an achievement.

I have the achievement called Complete Ring-a-Ding-Ding is that the one ?

I was hoping for a new game difficulty to repeat with or something useful, i enjoy playing on hardcoe mode so i guess thats the real reward huh. :)

Nope, thats for completing the quest Ring-A-Ding-Ding

I think the achievement is 'hardcoe' or something. It should tell you the reason for the achievement (Assuming it works like PS3 trophies)

Ok i will just start over without using the console at all, will see what happens then.

I am currently playing with two mods the real time settler and underground hideout, i guess they dont have anything to do with the missing achievements.

It might be that since you used the console a couple of times, if the last time was on the section of playthrough that you completed the game with that disabled the achievement you should have otherwise acquired.

As if I've heard correctly opening the console disabled getting achievements for that play session.

Edit: Thank you for the confirmation below, PersonWorm.

Sure does. If you open console at all, even if you don't type anything, then you need to save your game, quit out entirely then open it again if you want to get the achievements. It's a pain in the butt if you always hit the tilde key accidentally, like I do.
Mods don't affect the achievements at all.

hardcoe mode gives most otherwise useless items a purpose, that reward enough.
I find it hard to return to fallout 3 which has so many useless items and no crafting...

What uses does HC mode give to items?

(Myself, I prefer it when not everything nailed down has a hidden use; a believable world will have trash in it ~trash that is really actually just trash).
To have a use for everything destroys any notion of choice or gamble; for everything needs be collected; and you can never "luck out" for having kept something that turned out to be useful.

Well all food now has a purpose, I myself like making weapon repair kits, preparing food, party-time mentats, super stimpacks, some poisons, purifying my own water, making moonshine, Doctors bags, Antivenom etc.
Chems are very useful now since you don't heal instantly, I constantly find myself needing to use Psycho, Jet and Med-x.

Non of this is actually necessary and sometimes can be a hassle but it does help the immersion.
There are still plenty of useless items.

I gave hardcoe a 5-Level tryout until I got frustrated with trying to keep my limbs in good health - and then ED-E died. I was horrified. I loved everything else about it except those things. I want to get a good mod when I find one that makes companions essential and I'll just have to get better at taking care of my limbs. I want the challenge of weight to items for one thing. I'm a pack rat and it'll help me learn what's really necessary to carry around. It'll still be hard-corish :D - but I won't be going to funerals.

I know its been mentioned many a time, but it's kinda frustrating that you can't just keep going when it's done. I'd like to actually use the items you get. I'm being vague for obvious reasons.
