Hi Rez release for Skyrim causing crashes?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:45 am

It seems any time I have the hi rez pack from Bethesda checked my game is crashing. Is this a known issue and is there any way around it?

It either means you don't have enough ram or don't have enough vram.

Can't tell you a thing without a full dxdiag in spoiler tag.

4GB of RAM and using a GeForce 8800. Might be time to upgrade.

The recommended vram is 1gb, so your under. Also, more ram never hurts, its also pretty cheap. But yea, I'd recommend not using high res textures till you get an upgrade.

Not really what I asked for but it's enough to tell you that your GPU is not capable of handling it.

Also, more ram never hurts, its also pretty cheap.

Assuming one has a 64-bit OS, of course. Also, there's a limit to where it's actually useful if you're not doing dev work, designing, or other memory intensive stuff. For day to day usage, including gaming, 6 - 8 GB is a sweet spot.
