Rhett / Euston Dominate

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:26 am

i noticed myself getting owned over and over and over and over, on several different servers by these two guns (mostly the rhett I think), so i decided to see what was so great about them.

i find these things more effective at close range than SMGs and have very low recoil for the first several shots.

I stopped using the rhett because I felt like an a**hole using what i felt was a fairly OP gun, tried the Euston and noticed it also seemed WAY better than all the SMGs I had been previously using.

i'm wondering if anyone else feels this way or if I'm just crazy. i like trying to use guns for the purposes they were designed for, but these two seem better for almost all roles.

i started using the Euston and CARB-9 when i was a medium, but i prefer the CARB-9 for CQC and have been using it almost exculsively. but hey, more power to you for making good use of the Euston. i couldn't get it to work good at CQC, but i was probably doing it wrong!

Assault Rifles are going to be "better" than SMGs, they do more damage.

The majority of the SMGs have faster RoF and a larger mag than the rifles. They're also faster to pull out, and can be used as a secondary by a medium body type. All of these are advantages over the rifles, and should be factored in when determining the overall "balance" of a weapon.

Also, the weapon a player feels is "over powered" is usally a weapon that he feels most comfortable playing with, but it doesn't always mean it's actually over powered, it may just be better for the way you play.

a smaller magazine in a weapon that takes half as long to kill someone isn't a disadvantage.

Edit: what i mean by this is that for the 20-40 bullets it takes to score a kill with the average SMG as opposed to the 5-15 bullets it takes with these AR's, i don't really see an advantage because in both cases you still use up the same (or more in the SMG case) ratio of ammunition.

Just like how the Carb 9 and Buldapan are the best SMG's. Put a grip, your fav sight, duct tape mags, and a muzzle break you have a fun time getting 2 kills per clip or more if they're damaged.

If it takes you 20-40 bullets to kill a guy with an SMG perhaps you should go heavy and carry an LMG instead, but the advantage is a situational advantage none the less. More bullets is more chances and within range and well aimed the SMG still drops the enemy quite rapidly. Not as fast as an AR, but not the 15 to 25 bullet difference you make it out to be.

The main benefit of the Euston is that its rapidfire in an AR. I haven't tried the Rhett yet though. I actually have done pretty well with a Drognav and a Carb. The Carb is my favorite SMG right now due to its stopping power. Throw in a drum clip and you can deluge the area in fire, great for lights too. Of course, the heavy can carry a MG and a AR...

I like the Carb-9 so much that I have considered using it as both primary and secondary. Right now I have been trying out the different AR's for primary, but tend to do better when swapping out for my secondary OP Fallout Edition Carb-9. I haven't even done any of the challenges yet, so it is just the base model. Need to work on some attachments today I guess.

I use the Galactic SMG, and I love it. At short- or mid-range, I'm able to line up for headshots, and take someone down in under 10 hits, unless they're Heavy. I play as a Light, and can take down 5 enemies in a row before reloading (often manually).

When I first started, I tried out all the ARs, and decided that I was, for once, better suited to using a shotgun - ARs are a lot steadier at the mid-range mark, and SMGs are pretty bad anywhere beyond there, so they're got an advantage in range, but I don't find the extra per-bullet stopping power to balance out how fast they run out of ammo. I'll be consistently running out of bullets after 2 or 3 kills with any AR. That doesn't happen with the Galactic.

I can't say you're wrong, though, because you're not. You're just great with those weapons.

Don't hold yourself back because you found the combination that's perfect for you. Encourage others to try a weapon they may not have used yet. Maybe someone will learn that they can do better with a new gun, or a new set of upgrades.

i just wanted to see if others thought there might have been a bit of a balance issue, but it seems i may need to work on the usage of SMGs a bit. it's just so hard to let go of the trigger once you start firing but I am assuming small bursts does the trick just as well and doesn't use up as much ammo.

looks like it's ARs for me for now :)

Sir, that is not a balance issue, but an addiction! Once you pull that trigger, you can't stop!

And it's worst with the Euston, the last weapon you'd want to full auto with, but it feels sooooooo good.

I'm constantly weighing the Carb-9 in one hand and the Bulpdaun in the other. They're both accurate, both high damage, both great. The Galactic makes for a good secondary overall, of course, I also sometimes go for pistols. Still don't know if I want a magnum or a semi-auto. I'll never touch a Tampa. Super fast reloads and high damage amount to little when the rounds hit nothing even just short of melee range.

Between the assault rifles, I really can't tell which one I like most. Actually, scratch that, I do know: the Euston - but hell knows I do a LOT of damage with the Gerund and Rhetta. The former especially, as it doesn't seem to have any issues with stability OR accuracy. It's a beast, but it's also the plainest looking weapon of the bunch :( I've never really given the Rokstedi a try, and I feel the FRKN-3K is too painful to use.

i hate to say it because in all games I favor semi-auto AR's, but the rokstedi just doesn't make the grade. you're way better off taking any other assault rifle, putting a sight/scope on and firing in very controlled bursts.

The Gerund is simply a better version of the Euston. About the same fire rate, higher damage, better accuracy.

i just got back from playing and realized i have been talking about the wrong gun the entire time (the Euston, I meant Gerund). I probably confused the hell out of some people, sorry about that.

any way I can change the thread title? hahahahah.

I actually just started using the Gerund tonight and I have to say its pretty best. I was using the Euston before and the Rhett before that, but Its the Gerund for me now. Might change later but I'm doing mostly solo at the moment and the Gerund almost feels like the only way to compensate for bad friendly AI and OP enemy AI.

For some reason in this game i am not a huge fan of any of the assault rifles at least the ones i have tried but maybe i was still just horrible at the game when i first used them. I'll have to give them a try but i haven't really taken noticed to what guns have been killing me other than running around a corner and noticing a fat ass spinning a minigun in my direction, hard to overlook.

My first preference of AR when I picked them up was the Gerund.

I find my Galactic SMG much more effective, personally.

Different players, different playstyles, etc.

My personal gun of choice is the Kross with the grip. I play with several but every time I go to that one it just feel so right.

In My Opinion, The Euston The Rhett and Gerund for Great. But The Best Assualt Rifle is the FR3KN-3K, Which is loosely based off the French FAMAS. It 3x Round Bursts, Accurate, Good Damage.
I have only ever used it once. My Friend had it before me because he had help unlocking it (Via the Tower Defence 1*) I lag whenever I try :(

To much CARB-9 love on this forum for me, I personally can't go medium without a Euston and galactic, I use the Kross when I need some long range action thoguh the stability of the Kross is amazing.

I personally did better with a Gerund, even if I wanted to like the Rhett more. I guess it's mostly the extremely low ammo on Rhett. If I can't play a soldier, I can't afford using the Rhett.

Rocking Gerund/CARB myself mostly.
