Ridiculous amount of freezing

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:28 pm

Ever since I downloaded Dragonborn, I am getting, in a roughly 4 hour play session, 5-6 crashes. It's ridiculous. Usually happens when entering or exiting a new place, and it's getting kind of ridiculous. Didn't have many freezes before, and on PS3 I have absolutely none. Thinking that these DLCs are starting to pile up and start tearing at my game.

I do not get CRASHES...but i do get alot of freezing while using the Black Books and everything seems to be slower and less crisp than it used to be...When i first got the game...not a single problem...then everyone started having problems...then patches came out then my game had problems. I had just a few problems during Dawnguard...well now no problems with Dawnguard related stuff and all problems are with Dragonborn...i love playing this game and I love the additions Bethesda has added since release on 11/11/11...but i would really like for everything to not freeze...i started over after i glitched my first character at lvl 32...and have now played to lvl 66 with Lion-O my all-around butt-kicking magic/melee/ranged tank. started a High Elf just to play through and fix anything I did wrong the first 2 times. But am now worried to continue this char due to all the freezing and problems I now face since Dragonborns release...Hearthfire is also now having problems and when i went to Riften and to the Thieves guild alot of dialogue ive already been through with Delvin was all lit up and alot of it had to do with me finishing quests.

Since downloading Dragonborn, I have had freezes, crashes, lags, and hard crashes where I have had to up-plug the XBox itself and restart the Xbox. It has been found out that the autosaves are causing three fourth's of the problems. I have turned off ALL my autosaves, and just do hard saves very, very often, and every hour or so, I go to the dashboard and clear the cache. It was also recommended that I keep fewer saves on the hard drive, and keep them down to about 6 because the extra saves take up memory. Since I have been doing this, I have had no more freezes, no hard crashes or crashes of any kind, and only a minor lag here and there.

Yes extra saves take up memory, on hard drives that usually have a fair few gigabyte of free space, the amount of space they take up is not really that significant, you can have a lot more than just 6 saves, you can have 40 and it is not going to affect your game unless you are actually running low on storage space. And clearing the system cache every hour or so is a waste of time and probably not a good idea while you are playing. You do it once, and then delete the DLC, patch and game if it is installed and do a clean install of the game, patch and DLC. Then you do not need to do it till your game starts having problems again, which should not be till at least the next DLC. You can clear the game cache each time you start up the game, that is not what you are doing.

Thanks for the info. I will do it that way from now on. I will have to tell the Bethesda tech that he was wrong for he was the one who told me to do this. Thanks again.
