Roadblocks in Freeside

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 5:36 pm

Was anyone else annoyed by the amount of roadblocks in Freeside? It was very hard for me to navigate. Following the arrow was useless if you would be led to a roadblock and have to figure out how to get there or where to teleport to get there....no, I haven't been the Strip yet (I can't continue playing because of the DLC save bug) so I have no idea if there is roadblocks there. I just wanted to say I hate roadblocks and I would have rather explored Freeside with more freedom.

Not really.
But it's one hell of a lot easier than navigating through DC ruins.

You mean real roadblocks or debris? Because I hate debris in Freeside, I got tricked once by it. But I know the entire Freeside, so its easy to navigate through it.

Yeah Freeside is the most annoying place in the game for me, especially when you've been playing for awhile and the loadtimes get longer because as you're going back and forth it just takes a long time and it's really annoying when you go through one of the doors to the other 'side' only to find out where you needed to go was on the other after all.

That said I think Freeside is a cool place, I just wish it was more functional. It's slightly annoying how the strip is cut up as well, for the same reason (load times) but at least it's a straight line so it's easier to navigate.

I hope someone comes up with a Mod soon that removes the walls in Freeside and the Strip, just so I can see the dreaded performance hit, or lack there of, that having a large open cell would have created

I have come to grips with getting around Freeside, but I still hate having to go around the block just go across the street. The Strip is fine, just the cell loading that gets old when going to the one end of the strip. Which you have to do quite a bit.

Here you go at least regarding the Strip: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38056

Only in early Alpha form as yet, but it shows promise. A few issues to keep in mind if you intend to use it so watch the install notes. Enjoy.

It probably wouldn't affect PC performance too much as it was likely implemented to allow for the game to be played on consoles.

That's why I'm looking forward to the day that I can get the game for PC (playing on the Xbox 360 currently).

I'm on PS3, but I like this, this guy has removed the walls and is actually TRYING to fix its 'NPCs delayed spawning' issue wall removals have. I applaud his dedication.

I might be alone on this, but I thought navigating the DC Ruins was pretty easy.
