Robbed

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:19 pm

I know this has probably been posted before and if it hasn't, then something is seriously wrong with gaming, but Witcher 2 was robbed blind for RPG of the Year.

Skyrim didn't deserve it. Not even close. From the dumbed down leveling system to the repetitive, awful misc. quests to the muddied, PS2 textures to the game-breaking bugs to the broken crafting system to the random dungeons that spawn at-level mobs and gear. The game should not have won any awards.

And I'm saying this as someone who was so stupidly hyped for Skyrim thinking it would be the next Morrowind but better, I couldn't sleep for days before launch. I lived Skyrim for months before release.

I'll be able to tell who played the Witcher 2 by responses. It's as easy as anyone who agrees Witcher 2 should've gotten RPG of the Year played it and anyone who disagrees didn't play it. It's honestly that simple.

Meh. Awards in the gaming industry are like Golden Globes. It's just friends giving friends a pat on the back, but no one really cares.

And you're right, I never played the Witcher series. Frankly, I don't care because the title keeps me from exploring it. Obviously, it seems linear because you're a witcher, correct? I can't play as an agent, can I? Sorry, I like open-ended games like Elder Scrolls.

There hasn't been a great RPG in years, however I still think Skyrim is the best one on the market at the moment and deserving candidate for RPG of the year.

I'll agree for the most part but when a game truly deserves it like the Witcher 2 did and doesn't get it, it just shows that whoever has the money and advertising wins. Bethesda threw their cash around and won the awards to make themselves feel better for spending so much time on a game that didn't live up to what they wanted.

Sure, it can be a candidate. There weren't many RPGs this year. Dead Island is another that I think was better than Skyrim. Hell, I still play Dead Island.

This is evident since MW3 beat BF3 in VGA's Best Shooter category.

There was really no point, just a solid fact. I figured I'd save some [censored] their rabid responses.

In all honesty, hardcoe RPG's have been dead for awhile now. If I want to play a hardcoe RPG then I get my fix from playing Neverwinter Nights or Dungeons and Dragons Online, maybe EQ2 (free to play now). I play Skyrim and enjoy it because its a bit different from the other games and is a nice change of pace for me, it delivers a nice dunegon crawling experience that doesn't require [censored] loads of grinding as the afore mentioned games do.

To validate what I said in my first post, I Wikied Witcher 2 for the first time...yea, doesn't seem to be in the same category as an Elder Scrolls game. A third-person RPG? No thanks. More options allows for a better RPG.

I bet you Wiki which cars to buy, too. Ford Focus' have more options than a Porsche 911 but I can guarantee you it's not a better car.

Why thanks for the compliment, and welcome to the community.

You will soon find that your opinion on the best game of the year amounts to this :

You will have a much easier time getting points across without making universal blanket statements, especially ones wherein people that disagree with you are wrong for only disagreeing with you.

LOL, actually, I'd still choose a Focus over a 911. Less maintenance and less insurance. Even with a Porsche, I still have to go the same speed limit as everyone else. 'Better' is a relative term.

You were right with the Witcher assumption, but don't get too cocky!

In this economy it's all about the gas mileage, and it's obvious which of those has better MPG. And you can easily find out on the internet, the internet is there for information.
And grats on derailing your own pointless post.

I don't think Skyrim deserved what it got, nor do I think Witcher 2 deserves it.
