Roleplayers: How has your character evolved?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:13 pm

D'jinn asks all who attempt to play a role in Skyrim and give their character a personality: How did you start out? How have you grown and developed since beginning?

D'jinn's character began as a young and rather innocent Khajit, interested in magic and with a lust for gold and shiny things. She still roleplays her character this way on the RP boards; an innocent novice mage who just wants to learn more about magic. But as she has progressed through the game (still on her first playthrough), D'jinn has begun to see her character in a different light and think of the ways that she is developing.

Upon discovering that she was the Dragonborn, D'jinn was unsure of what to do with such a responsibility. She had no idea what it meant or where this would lead her. She went to the College of Winterhold, which had been her plan from the beginning, and began honing her magical skills. Destruction was always her favorite school. Nothing makes D'jinn happier than seeing her enemies go up in flames. Well, that and looting whatever treasures she finds along the way. After becoming the Archmage, D'jinn began to have more confidence and arrogance in her abilities. This, along with her penchant for fire and large explosions, foreshadowed the way her character would continue to grow.

It was not long before D'jinn became involved with the Thieves Guild. Her skills in sneaking and stealing and the fact that she never got caught only caused her ego to swell. The fact that they seemed to care little for each other and more about making gold than anything else resonated with her. But she quickly tired of the small jobs the Guild gave her. She had been contacted by the Dark Brotherhood and joined their ranks, and could see that she would have much more to gain from them. They talk of family and honoring each other... D'jinn scoffs at this. All that matters to D'jinn is D'jinn. And upon finding out that she was the fabled Listener, D'jinn was not at all surprised. Who else but her could have such an ability?

And now, D'jinn is beginning to learn more about the Daedra. They are beginning to speak to her, and she sees that they offer even greater power. D'jinn sees her character spiraling into madness as her lust for power grows. But still she roleplays on the boards the way she started out... nothing more than a kitten interested in magic.

How about yourselves? Does your character have a story, do they grow through their adventures in Skyrim? Tell D'jinn, she is curious.

Short and sweet. Playing as a wood elf called Link my mission on first playthrough is to just experience TES without letting it overwhelm me also i want to find Links green tunic (easter egg if you can call it that on youtube)
My character mainly uses one handed weapons & magic. Naturally a good archer much like link. But i need to rank up my two handed because i have weapons like the megaton hammer from LOZ already plus i need the master sword! So my characters story has been explained except i need to fine tune my character and sadly there is no princess.

my argonian assasin started his lfie outside of black marsh with an intense hatrd for imperial scum, but he would always go out of his way to help everyone else, he would always make new friends where ever he went. after finding a welcoming family in the dark brotherhood he found a welcoming family, he was still kind to everyone, he still had many friends, but he finaly had a new home and a new family (after his old village was burned to the ground by "imperial soldiers"). after an outsider attacked his family he burned with anger and would not even listen to his closest ally when he asked to spare the agressor. when his own family betrayed him though, he felt pain and anger, he grew cold and heartless, the only reaosn he went back was to kill each and every one of them, dispite this he could not kill the people who were once his closest friends. although, after he found the true traitor he felt no pain as he showed no mercy. after the traitor lay dead his rage at the empire was rekindled and he went on a crusade to bring it to it's knees. he killed his greatest target and fought along side the stormcloaks aganst the empire, and won.

My lady-Nord started out living one of those lives full of bad karma and hard knocks. She grew up in Dawnstar (with all the delightful darkness that comes with it), and found herself spending a few years in the Imperial Prison in Cyrodiil, which was, interestingly, not as svcktastic as being free. She returned to Skyrim upon release with a mind-bendingly newfound freedom, and was quickly picked up through her northward wanderings in an Imperial raid on a group of nearby Stormcloaks (whom she was not affiliated with). Having seen such situations before, she found little reason to plead her case, and went quietly to the chopping block.

That moment of accepting the end, only to have it interrupted by fate, was a sort of death and rebirth, though she would not have recognized it at the time. Through what she was convinced was some sort of cosmic joke, she discovered she has a 'destiny', being Dragonborn. The series of events that followed have tested her mettle physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. She has grown from being scrawny, fatalistic, hypervigilant, agnostic and uneducated into someone completely different. She's learned how to read, fight, overcome obstacles, craft things, cast spells, and even cook (:P). She's learned to let people see her compassion, and how to not be taken for a fool. After plenty of stumbling and shaking her fist at the heavens, she's learned what gods and Daedra warrant worship, and what causes she'll champion. Most importantly, she's learned to rely on friends--she married one--and still develop confidence in herself. It's been a bumpy ride, with plenty of mistakes, bad luck and ill-advised choices along the way, but she went out and achieved her destiny, and did it as a person she could accept.

My Orc character Lob Shepli has changed quite a few things since starting his adventures in Skyrim. Having an intense curiousity for exploring dungeons and collecting books he thought it would be best to not weigh himself down. He used light armor but eventually decided heavy armor suited him best and gave up on training that skill. He has also become more social instead of the solitary hermit like Orc he once was. He has realised to get the best info on dungeons and rare books he needed to connect with others socially. Fortunately he has found himself very interested in what others have to say on such matters and now loves to converse back and forth with others almost as much as he loves exploring dungeons and hunting down books.

My character started as a redguard stealing watermelon. He eventually got arrested by the legion and was going to die. Then a dragon came and destroyed the town.... Eventually my character realized he is dragonborn and left behind his lust for watermelon so he can save the world from alduin...

My female Khajiit, Anshia, was originally a none-too-bright Bandit from County Bruma, who's decisions were guided strictly by her coinpurse, bloodlust, liver, or loins. She's mostly stayed that way, though her desire to impress and earn the affections of a certain young imperial soldier who http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Hadvarmade her develop a stronger conscious and desire to help others. Of course... once she became identified as Dragonborn, she went (harmlessly) power-mad - She was eenveenseebal, and proved it by performing such dastardly actions as streaking through Whiterun, annoying her Housecarl, and generally fusing around like an idiot.

A few compliments from guards toward her favor for using large swords requiring two hands to use got her interested in working on her destructive magic - She was a skilled shot with a bow, and wonder with two-handed weapons, so decided to put the "Two Hands for Everything" mentality to apply to roasting things as well, with painfully underwhelming results.

She's become quite enthusiastic in everything she does, to the detriment of Skyrim.

Valen was an Imperial because he coveted shing gold coins. He had good reason to flee Cyrodiil and only wanted to find a 'normal' life in Skyrim. He never develops his Dovakhin side and does not even know he is Dovakhin.

When Valen first enters any city he talks to the pretty ladies. He hopes one day to buy a house and to be married. He is happy when reading a book and like to learn new things excites him. He will save up many many coins and buy gifts for his wife. This he must do. He writes all his adventures in his little journal. This Valen does.

My imperial started off her journey sentencing a group of stormcloaks to death. Extra points for nabbing a horse-thief and some nameless borderjumper. After Helgen burned, she fought her way through the undercaves, slaying the Stormcloaks blocking the retreat. Even managed to kill that godforsaken Ralof and that John Doe.

Discovering she was one of the dragonborn put a damper on her career. Dealing with all these fussy new powers; having to unite this frozen bushleague country. Saving the world was nice, but oh! it would be nicer if it was a bit warmer.

In the end, she learned a lot about accepting change, like some heroine in a junior-high coming-of-age paperback. Granted, she never got used to the dragon shouts--her singing voice was never quite the same after the adventure.

My Dark Elf's name is Shikari and he does what he wants. He quickly rose to power in the Dark Brotherhood because of his ruthless, cut throat ways. He specializes in light armor with one handed weaponry. Magic isn't his best ability, but then again he doesn't need it. He's the [censored] in his mind and assassinates people for the hell of it.

I don't know. umm.. i stated by looting anything i saw from a tankard to a precious gem *ruby, diamond etc* to bandit killing and then doing alchemy, smithing... then the good part came. I started doing enchant to make 4 sets of fortify *Skill* and getting 100% Less Magika Cost. So i was using strong spells like Paralzye and Fireballs, Ice-Spikes without using Magika. So i was like a god. I was using Magicka here and there blasting anything i saw. Also at the same time i used my Daedric Greatsword Enchanted with Paralzye 10 Seconds. I have the Black Star. So i soul trap those sons of bit-ches and feed them to my Great-Sword. I have Daedric Bow, with a damage of 100,000,000 damage so i get to kill Giants and Mammoths in one hit *one arrow, one shot*

Reamin, Just a lowly Khajit Mercenary. With basic knowledge of destruction magic, and an apitude with swords, he trained by the philosophy a good defense is an unstoppable offense. Always on the attack against his opponents, keeping them from attacking him. When an enemy moves to block, he blasts them with his lightning magic, when they get too close and lower their guard, he slashes unrelenting with his sword. He was closest to death when the imperials mistook him for a stormcloak, but thanks to Alduin, he managed to escape. His travels led him to Whiterun where he warned the Jarl about the dragons. hired to investigate the west watchtower, he fought and killed a dragon, learning then he was a dragonborn. He would soon learn his favorite Thu'um, the firebreath. He met and joined the companions, their courage and strength intriqued him. On an early mission he learned of thier true nature, and would be even more interested in their lifestyle.

Now, after countless missions and current events, He has become harbinger of the companions, and has grown to love and marry Aela the Huntress. In recent travels to Riften, he has somehow joined the thieves guild, although he still doesn't really understand how it happened.

You insult D'jinn with your nonsense. She is proud to be Khajit and speaks the way Khajit speak. If you do not care to read such things, why bother posting that you did not read? D'jinn may have to send one of her "brothers" your way.

There are two Is in Khajiit, land strider.

But let this one tell Dar'Savirra's story.

Dar'Savirra came to Skyrim seeking fortune but not through honest work or labour, but through blood and thievery. His oldest brother, Dar'Rajha, raised this young Khajiit for many years in Bravil, togather they sruvived the Thalmor siege but Dar'Rajha was killed by the Town guard a few years after so this one needed to leave, he traviled for two years doing jobs for the Dark Brother, he soon found him self crossing the border into Skyrim.

He soon woke up on a wagon being taken to a place called Helgen where he would be soon executed, but this one's luck had not run out, a dragon attacked and he and a Nord called Ralof made their escape togather, but this one did not care for Ralof's cause, asoon as ths one tasted the cold, bitter wind of Skyrim he made his way to Whiterun where heard a rumor about a boy doing the Black Sacrement, so the Khajiit decided to persue the young one and answer his call.

The Khajiit recieved the contract from the child and he executed the old hag with glee, he recieved his reward from the boy and he continued to wander the icy wasteland for a little more before he fell asleep in an old wilderness camp.

This one awoke in a strange shack where a women callled Astrid asked him to execute three people, I did as she asked but this one leave other Khajiit alive.

This one's future is still unsure at this point of our story.

Morilath Dhu'veth presented herself as a humble Dunmer ranger when she first arrived in Skyrim. As time passed and she steadily made her way in to the frigid north, her true reasons for being in that troubled land emerged. A young boy in the city of Windhelm was seeking the aid of a certain elusive organization that Morilath wished to encounter. She headed south to the slightly more temperate climes of the rift and enacted the boy's wishes, knowing this would cause that organization to contact her.

In due course this came about and she awoke in unfamiliar surroundings and her true mission as a member of the Morag Tong began.

Edit: (She has only done misc and side quests up to this point to level a bit. Once the 'alternative' DB quest is complete she will return to Morrowind by way of the gate to the east of Riften.)

Khajit always speak of themselves in third person. They're cats. And they're skooma pushers. Skooma is like catnip to them.

Sonja escaped Helgen with Alvor's son, and she did her first deed double-crossing Faenrel in Riverdale. Then moved onto Whiterun where she joined the Companions and became a dog. Killed a dragon, then journeyed up the 7000 steps, and decided to make a side jouney to Riften where she quickly fell in with the wrong crowd. Then became curious about the temple of Mara and did the match making thing, Moved up the ranks of the Thieves guild, until she got the Skeleton Key which she still has, joined the Dark Brotherhood, and has spread misery and pain throughout Skyrim. She keeps things pretty balanced (always gives to the poor to absolve her conscience) though since she has been treated well by the Dunmer she treats them well. But the snobby Altmer? They usually feel the poisoned end of her blade, especially if they are Thalmor wearing robes. The armored inquisitors get eaten if possible. Altmer do not taste like chicken. They tend to taste like smoked turkey. She has learned her shouts Fus Ro Dah and Mark of Death, Fire, Frost, and a few others. Her next job is to (SPOILER: Kill the Emperor)

For the most part my character has worked out how I had planned from the get go, with a couple exceptions; first, i hadn't planned on using archery as much as I have...he is after all, blind in one eye. Secondly, I hadn't intended for him to be a Daedra worshiper. Everything else he's done was planned out beforehand.

In a Nutshell, Ignar - Blind Eye is a murderer (11) and a horse thief (13). Daedra worhipper to Clavicus Vile, Sheogorath, Malacath, Molag Bal, Azura, Peryite and Boethia. He will not however, bow down to Mehrunes Dagon or Namira.

My main character (Redguard) started off as an Agent of Hammerfell who couldn't wait to find his father's killers and return to Hammerfell with some valuable information. However, he's now starting to rather like it in Skyrim, and is starting to like being the Dragonborn and all other accolades and Titles he's been getting along the way.
