Roleplaying as Darkelf

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:38 am

Im not sure if any of you serious roleplayers out there ever play like i do, its not or have nothing to do with the main quests and maybe some side quests involved depend on what you run into. My female dunmer is not happy after her friends and families were butcher by nords and other races just off the border Riften to Morrowind. Note when the game started i simply travel to Riften and hang out near the border (turn back) and start her journey there.

She is hybrid between rogue/mage class and mixed race of darkelf/orc (her pic down below). Mainly she use bow most of the time and whenever she find hideouts that has alchemy labs, etcs that can be in use. I have been killing almost eveything i come across and avoid some without getting killed. Since i only play hardcoe mode along with expert difficulty level, have compass disabled and refuse to use the map. Eat and sleep regularly and suriving off the lands.

I slowly map my areas on piece of paper by drawing roads and hidden locations, just off the road toward Morrowind. She will be doing alot of killing through out Riften and onward, since some npcs cant die (nothing i can do about that). She doesnt get involved in public or in the open, very few that i havent killed seem to be different in some ways, another word he/she didnt attack me first and realise he/she was a dunmer.

She have explored alot of interesting places and came across alot of strange creatures that never seen before. Some places had to be avoided without taken the risk or get trapped and feel like the sun or daylight hours moving alittle too fast. By collecing whatever she can find and make use for it, she doesnt buy or sell anything unless came across dunmer in the wilderness. She planning on removing the nords and other races that started the war or whatever they did in the pass. Since Imperials and Stormcloaks doesnt get along would be a perfect setups for traps in some places. Some day when she feels that she have enough killing, she may return to Morrowind and get back to her normal life.

To be honest I have never thought of playing your way, and reading your story so far it is tempting, on next char:Maybe.... I too chose like you and even after 70+hrs in iam still only LVL 21 with 50 in destruction, as i like to walk every where and wont use the cheat,(quick trip)cut accross country using my Bow, where you find some really great qst's, and see some fantstic sites,.. But to play with no map is real hard core..good on ya. and good luck,

Its up to the player how into it they wanna get.

But at least keeping in mind why YOUR character is there and why they do whatever they do can add A LOT to the game.

Creating a backstory for a Dunmer in Skyrim would be pretty easy, considering the lore with Vvardenfell/Morrowind and Solsthiem.

''Jericho Krios is the name. Born on the roads of Skyrim. I'm not one of these Nords who are stubborn and proud. I'm not a Hero.''
I'm having my fun.

Dont rush yourself, try enjoy playing your character. When the time comes then you can decide what to do and you dont have to play just like i do, you can however make your own map without using their. Its up to you.

So far i am really enjoying my character, she only lvl 6 at the moment and manage to do alot of things i couldnt have imagine. Guess i need to take it easy or get killed lol.

I also noticed that if you guys happen to play like this, besure to save your games often in vary places. Several times i happen to pick up quest items and couldnt get it off and got so clutter with useless junks. Unless you figured out how to remove items from your inventory through console commands.

Wow, you actually have your own little world going on don't you? That's cool though. Not my thing but more power too you. Also, your character looks awesome. She actually looks like a cross breed of a Dunmer, and Orc. Very well done.

P.S. She's NOT ugly!!

I run a character named Deimos a druid necro mage. His eyes were sewn shut for "Seeing to much" a "Prophet of Times". Look at my avatar that was my reference image. He's Breton.

"I do not collect religion nor do I utter it's words. I am a prophet of time and history."

He was raised by the classic old ladies of the forest, the hag witches. She taught him everything he has known about magic. They were nomadic dotting across the many lands of the world of the TES series. Collectors of knowledge and profound speakers of history. Like druidic scholars collecting pieces of the ancient realms. Deimos at one point in time when through the test of manhood. Given to him by the eldest tree [not that trees talk, but his mother figure the old woman lived in tree. tree houses] he was set out on his own.

When this happened he witnessed the corruption of a powerful man, the murder of innocent whom crossed him. All though Deimos had taken an oath of silence and is more chaotic neutral this corrupted individual punished Deimos, but sewing his eyes shut for "seeing to much".

"He believed it a punishment so divine that I would fear to not speak again. What he had failed to realize was that I never had spoken before? So, why should I start? Because everyone knew there were corrupted individuals. Everyone knew. Yet they didn't speak. If one is not afraid of the punishment given, doesn't that make punishment useless? Doesn't it make the punishment not fit the "crime"? I fear no punishment. Instead what was to bind me, cripple me. Only made me better. It made feel and hear the world in a different way."

Of course mother hag witch of the forest was none to happy about this and acted a sworn amount of vengeance on the man whom had harmed her child. As they continued their travels, as he got older himself it was clear that the woman was getting old as well. Age was beginning to slow her down. But she continued further and further with him. His duties were always clear. Collectors of knowledge and magic. It's actually how he came across the shouts. Sources of great and ancient magic, which he has learned to spin.

Before he was in Skyrim, he and the old woman were to make their way there she died due to old age. She asked him to continue the journey. To collect all finds of knowledge. She was buried and he continued his way. Wen he entered the border of Skyrim he was captured in the frenzy of Ulfric Stormcloak. Captured and in a foreigners land, when freed he went onto his usual duties. Collect newfound knowledge about this strange land to honor the woman whom had raised him and taught him all that he knew.

I also have a theme song that inspired the story:

And another song I'd use for him:

Interesting story you have there, i wouldnt mind hearing more stories from others, if they can roleplay. Not many roleplayers out there, i been around since P&P from good ol' days and missed it. You be sursprised how far the game can go if you can use your imaginations :)

I RP a Dunmer ... I am going back to playing Morrowind because I am home sick ... I love their culture, and unfortunetly, there isn't enough of it in Skyrim... I am waiting for mods :))

The grey quarter is the only place I feel at home, but still, it has to be improved and added a place for me to live ^^

Im pretty sure they will, not sure if they are remaking Morrowind or creating one to connect to Skyrim borders. Im hoping they connect to sky so can travel back and fourth. Imagine if you had a war with Skyrim and hundred of nords and other bandits rolling into Morrowind, would be interesting conflict!

I am very, very tempted to make a Dark Elf character.

It's easy to imagine being picked up crossing the border from Morrowind and then being falsely accused of assisting the Stormcloaks. It would provide plenty of motivation to work against some or all Nords and Imperials, or perhaps to work for them (to prove the Dunmer are more than meets the eye).

I think it's very cool how you had your dunmer/orc lady go to the border of MW, turn her back to it, and then -- in effect -- truly start "your" game.

Your advice on frequent saving (to make sure you can avoid picking up unwanted quest items, or restart at a previous save if you do) is solid.

Cool concept.

As a player that never -- not once -- finished the MQ in OB I can relate to your style. In fact, my final characters in OB would only bring the amulet to Geoffrey to drop it off (and get it out of my quest log) and then never advance the MQ again.

My character, Kazdul, was an Ordinator.

Was.

After Vivec disappeared, Kazdul realized that the Tribunal was made of lies, and the already weakened House Indoril ordered him to be silenced. He turned into a fugitive, and caused three deaths in Vivec City, two of them being Ordinators. After managing to get out of Vvardenfell, Kazdul decided to move out of Morrowind and stay low, hoping to lose the Ordinators that followed him. After five days of running, Kazdul woke up to a great thunder.

Vvardenfell was completely obliterated. Kazdul was shattered at that point - his loved ones were all dead, and his home was gone.

Having lost everything twice over, Kazdul started moving north, barely able to breathe. He entered Skyrim, but was captured when he walked into an Imperial ambush where he killed an Imperial that had attacked him, not knowing who the assailants were.

When he woke up, he was on a carriage alongside a Stormcloak Soldier, a horse thief and the Jarl of Windhelm, unaware of his destiny.

That very good stories you guys have there, hopefully others can understand what roleplaying is. Funny when my dunmer manage to clean out bandit fort, just north of Riften, stormcloaks took over it and i was thinking "what the hell?" So i mind my own business and went into the combat room where the grinding stone were, this guard is telling me get lost or else. So i waited til he get through sharping his weapon then went hostile on me lol. He didnt last long and surprised others didnt attack me.

I had several hideouts around the big lake near Riften, that i can use for station areas and other useful spots.

I think you're Dunmer would like my Dunmer, http://www.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=7823.

He is the youngest son of an ancient noble house, but travelling in a refugee camp with his family near the borders of Skyrim when the Nords attacked (they were offended at the thought of Elves on "their land"). He was always the weakest son of the line, cursed as he was with white albino skin and tormented by incessant dreams of distant wars, so he was unable to prevent the slaughter of his family and people.

He was chased underground by the marauding Nords, where his albino eyes gave him a slight advantage. Then the Falmer attacked. They slew every last man who followed him in, then turned their attention to the cowering Chaerephon...

Instead of killing him, the matriarch took him as a slave, and he eventually became a lowly member of the Falmer tribe, slithering in the shadows, sleeping in icy caverns in the dark, he was finally safe. As his wounds healed he began to feel a kinship with the Falmer, and more than that with all of Elvenkind, his thoughts turning to revenge on the world of Men.

When he felt stong enough he found an exit to the underworld, and emerged blinking into the light ...and was promptly arrested.

The time of Men is drawing to a close. The Elves shall rise again, and Alduin shall pave their ashen path!

I'm guessing most of the people in this topic know that. However, it's worth noting that many dark elves prefer the term "dark elf" rather than dunmer.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dunmer:

The Dunmer, also known as Dark Elves, or Moriche in the Ayleid Language, are the ash-skinned, red-eyed, Elven peoples of the Eastern Empire.[1][2] "Dark" is commonly understood as meaning such characteristics as "dark-skinned", "gloomy", "ill-favored by fate" and so on. The Dunmer and their national identity, however, embrace these various connotations with enthusiasm. In the Empire, "Dark Elf" is the common usage, but among their Aldmeri brethren they are called "Dunmer".[2]

Any more players out there would like to share their stories with us? I manage to get my dunmer at lvl 16 and getting too strong, not sure if the game is balance or what but there are few things and bosses can kill me though lol.

My favorite moments i had when i clean out the bandit fort (Faldar's Tooth) you will noticed there a pressure plate on the ground down the hallway and a swing trap door, love it when they come after me and i jumped over it on time or shoot an arrow across the hallway to get them attention, they get slapped in the face heh. Wish i had that on video and post it here. Next time i get a mob like that i record it and share it.
