Roleplaying an NPC - anyone else doing this?

Who else is roleplaying an NPC from Skyrim? I am and I think it adds a nice twist! Definitely a good idea for players who can't have enough characters.

I've recently started roleplaying Jordis the Sword-Maiden. Thanks to TheMagician for the sliders http://www.truancyfactory.com/mods/skyrim/skyrim_characters.html

...and here she is in action, clearing Kolskeggr mine on expert dif (I toned it down)

She was used by my Dragonborn battlemage as a follower, so I'll be playing it as a "Further Adventures of..." and doing quests that they never did on that playthru - just to make it feel as though it is a spin-off of that story.

My battlemage did the COW, MQ, Thane of Haafingar and some Daedrics & favours. She also started as Imperial in the CW, but then did the double-cross with the Jagged Crown and finished it as a Stormcloak. Her Roleplay is that of an Imperial widow of Nord descent who wants vengeance on Tullius and the Emperor. She is 60 years old and will complete the DB questline in the future.

I'll be playing Jordis as a non-Dragonborn character, completing the companions questline and becoming Thane of The Reach. Then I'll try and think of a nice endgame that brings the two stories together.

I'd love to know if anyone else is doing this....

Im kind of bamboozled, what exactly do you mean roleplaying a NPC? It seems like you've got her face and you're just, to put it bluntly, playing the game normally?

Because when you said "roleplay NPC" i thought you meant EG if i roleplay faendal i would walk around, chop wood, and harass camilla with lots of letters.

I looted some Thalmor orders, it said "Kill Jordis the Sword-Maiden" :)

I'm also sticking by her combat skills & style, which can be found here:

I suppose you're right in that I'm playing the game normally, I just think the game allows you to make a playthru as an NPC and make it believable. So why not go for it? Not picking up the main quest is a game changer too - makes you feel like another citizen.

Why do you use a two-handed sword? Also light armor? It seems she prefers 1 hand and shield as all housecarls and heavy armor too. You play more in the style of Erik the slayer there it seems to me :).

That armour is Ancient Nord, and it's all heavy. The Helm of Yngol (40% frost resist) is heavy and she's also wearing the Ironhand Gauntlets (+15 2H). Jordis also has a skill of 72 in 2-Handed - right now I've got her at 54. She's equipped with a sword & shield, and I've got the bow and greatsword on 1. & 2. on the d-pad respectively. That way I can switch to the sword & shield by re-pressing 1. or 2. on the d-pad. This is where she's at right now skills-wise:

Level 22

Heavy 50
Block 47
2-H 54
1-H 44
Archery 48
Light 23
Smithing 37

Nice Idea. It IS role-playing, so why not just take on that role, and then play AS IF you were that character, and what she would do if she was given the opportunities to be the Dragonborn? After all, if the Dragonborn was living a normal everyday life, he/she would go to the inns, chop wood, sleep and eat like any other person. So, why not reverse it?

I'm currently role-playing as High King Torygg, my death was set up, I was then sent to die considered as your everyday petty criminal, but then Alduin... yadda yadda. I have to work my way up to get my revenge on Ulfric, and to get back my throne in any way possible, including murder, thievery, intimidation, persuasion etc.

Basically starting from nothing, working my way up the civil war quest line with the imperials while doing sidequests. Trying to avoid main questline since it doesn't seem to fit in with the story. It could though if I supposedly came back from the dead and learned the way of the voice like Ulfric to get back at him.
