OK guys here is the deal

-Character bg
hes a forsworn who is the son of the dragon born (my reason for doing the main quest). his tribe relocated after being attacked by the other tribes for being less abrasive towards non-forsworn. they want to form relationships with others instead of kick them out of the rift. After he lost a massive part of his tribe from the attack as well as after the relocation, he sets out to bring his tribe back to their former glory as well as form positive relations with other groups(the different holds and factions).

- Problem
i cant decide which path he would take in the civil wars

-thoughts on stromcloaks
i figured if he, a forsworn, helped them win they would accept the forsworn and try to form some peace treaty. but then i thought of the history between Ulfric and the removal of the forsworn from Marcarth.

-thoughts on the imperials
the imperials seem more tolerant so maybe if they received forsworn assistance in the war peace could be formed.

-Question
what should he do and why, if possible please state reasons that relate to lore. if non lore related, please don't hold back and still post i am interested in hearing what you guys think.

thanks guys

Forsworn would not join ether faction in the the civil war. Instead get some forsworn companions (dress up normal people if you have to) and attack their camps and maybe cities.

If you're forsworn, you stay out of the wars. It isn't your battle. Your battle is for land.
My suggestion would be to "take over" towns by dressing them up in forsworn armour through reverse pickpocketting. Assuming the forsworn armour is better than what they already have, they should use it. If you want to be really sure they'll wear it, pickpocket everything off them and reverse pickpocket forsworn onto them.

thanks guys for you quick and helpful responses.
i agree with you both, in general the forsworn would stay out of it. his tribe is a little different though. they don necessarily want land but more so either to be left alone or assimilate into the other cultures while maintaining their current few settlements as well as their culture (the humane parts of it at least). which side do you think would go for this and not wipe them out just cuz. im going for a french and indian war type of deal

again thanks for your input

If I were a Forsworn and had to choose one or the other, it'd be the Imperials. Very much a case of the lesser of two evils as far as Forsworn are concerned. Ultimately you're going to have to pick a side to do the main quest as well, perhaps only help in-so-far as to ensure your progress in that isn't halted?

both sides are you're enemy because they both fight to assume control of your land

you should do the markarth quest to free your king from prison and follow him to the friendly forsworn camp and call it your new home

If anything, I would imagine them going with Stormcloaks, as they are obviously not happy with the way things are now. Maybe they believe that the Stormcloaks can change everything?

I would love to have a follow up of you replacing everyone's clothing in whiterun with forsworn armour.

The Forsworn had been in the mist of conducting negotiations with the Empire during their rebellion to become a recognized protectorate state within the Empire. It's doubtful they would have much if any resentment against the Empire if they became aware that Ulfric was acting on his own, but there is no chance they would have anything good to say about the Stormcloaks. If they join anyone it will be the Empire and then only to spite Ulfric, however Jarl Igmund has also stayed loyal to the Empire and persecutes the Forsworn at any opportunity.

If I can manage to get my thief up and running, I'll be sure to see how reverse PP works in terms of armour. IN THEORY it should work due to forsworn being better armour than anything the villagers have. Only issue might be with guards, you might need to pickpocket their armour first (Needs 100 pickpocket with the final perk) then back out and replace it with forsworn.

Perhaps as reward to the Forsworn for their service, the Empire might re-open negotiations? Or at least do something about Jarl Ignmund.

Forsworn would start own independence movement and not join either but if I had to choose one it'd be imperials since forsworn are Breton and Breton are from High Rock an imperial province

Playing the opposite side of the Antagonist group is always fun. You make it your goal to "show" everyone you're not just a barbaric huntsman with a deer for a head. If you do reverse PP all of whiterun into Forsworn PLEASE TAKE A PIC AND DO A FOLLOW UP. I would really enjoy seeing that
